“[President Bush] looked me right in the eye with a hard, steady gaze … Our handshake was prolonged and, for me, profound … I remember I wanted to tell him how all my buddies love him, believe in him, and that we’re out there ready to bust our asses for him anytime he needs us. But he knows that. He’s our guy.”

Quote of the Day:

Vice President Cheney: It's a privilege to join all of you in this tribute to Edmund Peter Giambastiani, Jr. -- a fine American who President Bush, and all of us, know as Admiral G.

… Of those in the military or public service today, it will be said that we served during one of the most eventful periods in American history. It will be said, as well, that the years of General Pace and Admiral G were years of extraordinary leadership and accomplishment. These two officers, with combined service of more than seven decades, have been a remarkable team for the United States of America. They've earned the deepest respect of the President and Vice President, and the gratitude of our entire nation.

… It's most fitting that we should gather at the Naval Academy this morning. It's here that Ed Giambastiani, and his son Pete, and his late brother Chick, all became officers in the United States Navy. Ed was a member of the class of 1970. So he was here when Admiral Jack McCain spoke to the class and said that while some proclaimed "make love, not war," Naval officers were man enough to do both. (Laughter.)

Photo of the Day:

Admiral Edmund P. Giambastiani, Jr. returns a salute from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace, Friday, June 27, 2007, during a retirement ceremony for Giambastiani at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

.

I was going to give this warning a rest tonight, but I see another clueless (and classless) dunce wandered onto the president’s prayer thread, so just in case …

A warning to trolls, disruptors and other idiots:

President George W. Bush makes a statement to the press during a meeting with his economic team Friday, July 27, 2007, in the Roosevelt Room. "Job growth has been strong, and that's what you'd expect when our economy is strong and resilient and flexible. People working, unemployment rate is down, wages are increasing," said President Bush.

"What's a Dose Thread?"

The Dose Threads (also known as "Sanity Island", "The Daily Dose of Sanity", or "The Dose" for short) are one of the staple threads of Free Republic.

FR Canteen A Few of FRs Finest Freeper Foxhole VetsCoR A Day in the Life of President Bush Pray for President Bush

Established in 2001, the Dose provides news and photos of the president that are regularly ignored or misrepresented by the mainstream media.

This thread also provides a safe haven--an island of sanity--for anyone seeking the company of friends, the fellowship of prayer or just the pleasure of a civilized conversation.

If you have no interest in this, please heed the warning above and stay off this thread.

Thank you.

President George W. Bush pauses while speaking to the press after meeting with his economic advisors at the White House, July 27, 2007.

President Bush: … one of the important pieces of data that I've been briefed on is the fact that our economy grew at 3.4 percent in the second quarter this year. Inherent in that growth is a free enterprise system that provides incentives for people to take risk and to grow their businesses and it's an economy that is large, flexible and resilient.
