a defense-grade shotgun. Hoffman credited the gun's popularity to the short waiting period -- it can be obtained in two weeks

Is that because there is a waiting period for shotguns or because he doesn't have enough in stock and has to order them?

Not from the area but I'm thinking waiting period. Sounds like handguns are 90 days and shotgun/rifles are two weeks there.

I love Idaho. Walk in the store with cash and walk out with gun.

Actually, there's no waiting period for long guns (rifles & shotguns). It's a 2-week waiting period for a pistol if you don't have a pistol permit. If you have a permit, the transaction doesn't take much longer than an hour. So things aren't as bad as some people would make it out to be. This article has more than a few holes in it that need to be filled.
