Actually, there's no waiting period for long guns (rifles & shotguns). It's a 2-week waiting period for a pistol if you don't have a pistol permit. If you have a permit, the transaction doesn't take much longer than an hour. So things aren't as bad as some people would make it out to be. To buy a handgun in Ct you need a state pistol permit.
to buy a rifle or shotgun in Ct with out having a pistol permit or a hunting license , there is a two week wait.

Here in Michigan, if you have a CPL, you can purchase a handgun on the spot then take it to your local police dept. for registration.
You can also purchase a rifle or shotgun on the spot without any permits after the instant background check is completed.
If you wish to purchase a handgun without a CPL, then you simply go to your local police dept. and pick up a purchase permit, take it to your local gun store and then buy the handgun you want (after the instant background check is performed). Following purchase you must then take it back to your police dept. for registration........There is no waiting period.
