ACK! I mean stores WHICH fly the rainbow flag!

I hate when writers make that mistake, and here I go and do it myself!

I am suprised that Swarthmore was not on the list. My alma matter sure seemed like it had alot of fruits and nuts. More than Haverford anyways. The Bryn Mawr girls used to come to my Fraternity parties on the shuttle that ran between our schools. This shuttle had an interesting name which I will not repeat on this board, but you can probably figure it out. Something truck. Lots of LUGs at Bryn Mawr.

I am just about ready to send off my application to St John’s College in MD. I want to go to the graduate school. I don’t really care if it is a liberal or gay-friendly school. I work in a world famous art museum where about 1 in 5 employees are gay, so I am used to it.

Too bad Thomas Aquinas College does not have a grad school.

I might send an application to Kings College, London.

Thank you for the info. Actually, a 16 y/o in public school today (like my niece) probably really does NOT know what “classics” means....to them, it’s an introduction to dead white man’s writing....something no longer taught in the public schools.

Noting the extremely liberal student body, the Florida Times-Union questioned “why does it cost three times as much to educate a liberal as it costs to educate everyone else?”

Uh, because they're stupid and are willing to PAY that much?

Mills College in Oakland is a women’s college, and is very much a lesbian factory. I know this from first-hand experience.

My husband and I are noticing that some hotels, B & B’s and restaurants are calling themselves gay friendly. When we see that they consider themselves that, we don’t buy.

Same here. That said, I think it acknowledges the simple fact that a ‘gay’ household averages around 20K more than a ‘straight’ household, based on an article I read a couple of years back.

I live in Northampton and while it is a VERY liberal town and boasts a lesbian mayor, there is no way 40% of the population is lesbian. My guess would be 15%-20%. The same percentage of people in town voted for Bush in 2004!

I went to Villanova. Bryn Mawr “girls” used to terrify the the ‘Nova guys. Every year a few gullible Freshmen would head over to the school looking for their dream of a college full of women.

They would come back cowering and torn to shreds from the Bryn Mawr womyn. It was sort of a standing joke on campus.

Fascinating to hear how the other college views matters. Well, good to see the 'Nova men got a good education in the type of women to avoid.

Isn’t New Collegeof Florida run by a RAT and/or Clintanoid?

One of our older sons' best friends lived in Northhampton for a while, and that's what his friends and neighbors told him. Maybe that was their experience from the folks that THEY knew.

I took our daughter and a couple of her friends over to Smith one weekend for an Anime convention. I was amused watching the girls from the school. It's like they went overboard to make themselves look unattractive!

You must be thinking of the University Of Miami, which has Donna Shalala as their President.

I hear you on the ugly factor. Half of the Smithies are lipstick lesbians who care about their looks and the other half look like they just crawled out from beneath a rock.

Northampton has a couple of different sections that are very different from each other. Downtown is the lefty loony area. I would no be surprised if 40 percent of women living in the center of town are lesbians. Their is also the Florence and Leeds sections of town which are more blue collar and family orientated. There, they probably don't make up more than 5-10% of the population.

New School in NYC (on the list in article) is run by former Senator Bob Kerrey (D), maybe that’s what you’re thinking of.
