In the past few months, I've traveled the country talking and listening to folks. I've been discussing where I see America going, about what we need to do to keep our nation secure, what we must do to keep this remarkable economy growing, and the challenges we must address together for the next generation of Americans.
I believe the United States is at a crossroads, and what I'm hearing on the road is that a lot of people agree with me. They're ready to move forward together to meet our challenges here at home and abroad. They aren't buying into the defeatist talk about our security, our economy, and our future.
During this "testing the waters" effort we've undertaken, I've been saying the political waters feel pretty warm. It's allowed us to start laying the foundation of a good team across the country and to keep up this national conversation we've been having. Now we're going to take that conversation to a different level.
On Tuesday, August 7th, we're inaugurating a new weekly "I'm With Fred" email, complete with news, updates, and photos from the road. We're also working on the ImWithFred website 2.0, in order to keep in touch on a daily basis and to give you more opportunities to join us at events, help us organize, and spread the word about our efforts.
I'm excited about what I'm seeing out on the road. I appreciate everything you're doing for our effort.
Sincerely,
Fred Thompson

What’s the status of the Spencer Abraham business?
So you'd rather have the 'Beast, Barrack Hussein Obama, or gun-grabbin', abortion-fundin' Ruity, because...because...Fred's campaign manager, who has nothing to do with Fred's policy positions, has been accused by a blogger of dubious credibility of being an islamonazi shill. That says a lot more about you than it does about Fred.
What difference does it make?
Either way you get a conservative, right?
I too, was for Fred. You can look back and see that.
Anyway, he is not yet a candidate, much to his detriment.
Abraham, despite his weakness as a politician and bureaucrat, IS a fairly successful GOP apparachnik and knows all the state and local power brokers across the country. Fred is probably calculating that if he can win the primary with this team, then all of us will fall in behind him when he finally takes on Hillary and/or Obama. Is he right?
Ditto that.. just look at the post history of all these sudden anti-Fred conversions..
Excuse me? So if I dare to ask a question as to why Fred even associates with such folks (by hiring them), I am automatically labeled as suffering from "Fred Derangement syndrome"?
Good grief.
While it probably is true that campaign managers do not draft policy, it seems to me that if I were a political candidate, I would hire folks to run my campaign who hold similar political views. Not perfectly similar, but in the same ballpark.
I would vote for Fred, if the election were held today, but I have my misgivings.
Fred has said many times he is not going to give us his platform until he officially enters the race, which he will do on his own time, NOT early, like all the other candidates this election cycle.
That is, until their candidates get elected, and they move into high level jobs in his administration.
exactly
just like the RATS who claim “I used to be a conservative”
what transparent hogwash
Fred Derangement syndrome on parade. Hes his co-campaign manager for crying out loud, if you have an argument to make approach it on those terms. CMs dont draft policy period. They don't?
I guess my philosophy is this...
Don’t worry about the general election.
During the pre-primary conservatives should push as hard as possible for the most proven conservative candidate based on voting record and/or accomplishments. Who cares if they seem unelectable at the time.
If we truly believe that our ideas are better than it shouldn’t matter who are nominee is as long as they can clearly articulate that vision for America.
Number two, conservatives/republicans are going to vote for the R candidate no matter who he/she is anyway — if it’s Rudy vs. Hillary, I’m voting for Rudy - even though I can’t stand him
So why not push for a hardline conservative in the primaries?
Go Hunter!
I was not singling you out but rather making a general comment on the first half dozen or so comments.
Me too. I’m glad to hear from them.
Well, its about time. He is losing supporters by hiring Bush people and waiting till he feels like it.
Frankly, I am tired of waiting. His wait is starting to hurt him.
However, I would not blame him or any other Republican for not entering before a YouTube debate. LOL!
Ah, okay.
