In the past few months, I've traveled the country talking and listening to folks. I've been discussing where I see America going, about what we need to do to keep our nation secure, what we must do to keep this remarkable economy growing, and the challenges we must address together for the next generation of Americans.
I believe the United States is at a crossroads, and what I'm hearing on the road is that a lot of people agree with me. They're ready to move forward together to meet our challenges here at home and abroad. They aren't buying into the defeatist talk about our security, our economy, and our future.
During this "testing the waters" effort we've undertaken, I've been saying the political waters feel pretty warm. It's allowed us to start laying the foundation of a good team across the country and to keep up this national conversation we've been having. Now we're going to take that conversation to a different level.
On Tuesday, August 7th, we're inaugurating a new weekly "I'm With Fred" email, complete with news, updates, and photos from the road. We're also working on the ImWithFred website 2.0, in order to keep in touch on a daily basis and to give you more opportunities to join us at events, help us organize, and spread the word about our efforts.
I'm excited about what I'm seeing out on the road. I appreciate everything you're doing for our effort.
Sincerely,
Fred Thompson
for your reading pleasure...
I got the e-mail too!
Don't believe Thompson's claim that he understands the Islamist jihadist threat to America. His announcement, yesterday, of his choice of Spencer Abraham as campaign manager, told us everything we need to know. Although Abraham, of Lebanese descent, is a Christian, he is a career water carrier for Islamists of the most extremist stripe and made that the cornerstone of his failed, one-term Senate career and equally lousy tenure as Energy Secretary.
After reading Debbie’s column, I’m with you radar101. Go Duncan Hunter!
I’m with him; please run Hunter as VP.
Is anyone else already tired of this guy?
To me he’s the Obama of the GOP - all sizzle no steak.
He won’t commit to run, doesn’t articulate conservative ideas, just a lot of platatudes and happy talk.
Why are so many star stuck?
I’m sticking with Hunter.
Sounds kinda sketchy. Why is Fred Thompson associating with such people?
So when do you think Fred would be willing to actually debate the details with some of the other candidates?
Fred Derangement syndrome on parade. He’s his co-campaign manager for crying out loud, if you have an argument to make approach it on those terms. CMs don’t draft policy period.
So what did this email tell us about Fred
Uh... not much.
For Petes sake Fred, what do you think about all the issues we need you to address?
debate or 30-60 sound bite questions asked mainly by liberal moderators with 5+ other “candidates” who are stuck at 1% support?
Just let them rant.. the 1%ers will run out of money soon..and frankly, I attribute part of the problem Hunter isn’t doing well is to how a lot of his supporters act about other candidates, it’s really sad.. God protect Hunter from his supporters....
I’m still with Fred but I want to say that I do respect everyone here who is supporting Hunter. I got a little angry on another thread at people who seemed to be claiming to be for Fred one day and then against him the next, based on the choice for campaign manager. I am truly skeptical of those people. I doubt they were ever “for Fred” at all, just saying that now to boost their argument.
But anyone who says “I’m sticking with Hunter”, I just want to say to you, Hunter is a good man. I can’t argue with you about your choice.
I’m still with Fred.
Did you see the comment from Norman F? Thanks for the interesting link.
I've also given up on Fred. What a monumental disappointment he turned out to beThis is the kind of thing I'm talking about.
I'm skeptical about these sudden anti-Fred conversions.
There was either no support for Fred here in the first place, or this "supporter" isn't even up to the level of "fair weather friend".
"you knew this when you voted for him"
Words vs. Actions...
