At the time of posting, the title of this article on the BBC website was: "S Korean hostage pleads for help" .
And the article is bound to be expanded later.
Asia pinglist ping.
Why the hell would someone like this from South Korea be traveling in Afghanistan in the first place?
How the Taliban wins hearts and minds.
They were there for ostensibly “good” reasons, but only bad options will likely let them go.
We can cave into the demands (money answers everything) or send in troops if the location is found. Unfortunately, these people volunteered in a war zone and aren’t there from the principle players.
I am completely against giving terrorists money so they can kidnap 1000 more people with it.
I fear these people must find their own way out. They were completely misguided to have gone there at this time.
Their lives may be the price they pay. It was their choice, though.
If the demands are not met, the Taliban will give them the chance to convert before beheading them.
Wish a non-English speaking nation would grow some gonads and punch these terrorists hard. Instead:
“Foreign Minister Song Min-Soon said earlier Saturday that South Korea would withdraw the 200-strong peace-keeping force from Afghanistan by the end of the year as planned. “
They’d get more if they declared that they would help us out with 20,000 troops unless the hostages were immediately released.
Sympathy, but no quarter.
They went to Afghanistan of their own volition.
They KNEW that any capture would be used against their country.
South Korea should remain firm, beheadings or not.
The BBC has added more to the article.
Send in some ROK Marines.
