RICHMOND, Va. -- Crowds -- including people in dog suits and protesters -- are already starting to gather outside the Federal Courthouse in Virginia.
They are there for the bond and arraignment hearing for Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick, who faces dog fighting charges.
Protesters are on one side of the street and spectators are already lining up to go inside. Just like on the football field, Vick has his supporters and detractors out there.
Vick is sick. Vick is sick and not in a cool way, said one protester.

I am truly waiting for the RACE CARD to be played. Haven’t heard from Jackson or Sharpton on this event, so I’m sure they’re looking for an angle.
Guaranteed, the race card WILL be played.
Guy is clearly a psychopath and needs to be removed from society. People who do things like this inevitably go on to harm human beings. He is a ticking bomb just waiting to get his hands on a human victim. NFL needs to put as much distance between this guy and league as it can.
What is going to be interesting is how many other members of his team and other players are deeply involved in this.
The article is wrong in its premise ‘Vick has his supporters and detractors’ comment.
The NFL fan base was pretty much split 50 - 50 about Vick as an NFL quarterback.
Right now, the odds against him on this is about 90 - 10, and getting more in his disfavor with each passing day.

That already happened, and faded away when the indictment was released. I’ve been spending a lot of time at The Sporting News NFL forum and have seen this for myself.
The Falcons should just get it over with and cut him. Aside from him being indicted for this the guy associates with known criminals. All that aside he’s not even a good quarterback and he’s sure as hell never going to lead Atlanta to a Superbowl win.

Yep. I suspect we are all going to be stunned when Vick cuts the now inevitable plea bargain.
I’ve been waiting, too - I wonder what’s taking them so long? Maybe because what he did was truly indefensible.
I can't disagree with that -- other than to point out that his guilt or innocence is not going to be determined in the next 24 hours.
Whether he plays or not while the legal process moves forward should be determined by the NFL. My advice to them would be to ban the guy for the foreseeable future. He's bad publicity for their business.
Someone (on another thread) said Sharpton has critized Vick.
I wish they would have defined a "cool way" to be sick.
Sharpton already came out with against Vick.
They’ve already started to play the race card..albeit softly..almost like trying it out to see if it flies.

Agree 100%.
And did you see his supporters holding signs up? One read “Vick is my dog”. Truly astounding how utterly stupid some people are.
I honestly have more faith in my dog than in most people.
Vick is still very popular in the projects of Norfolk and probably Richmond as well. Having a whole line of white protesters railing against him is not going to help.
On another Vick thread, some FReeper photoshopped a dog chasing Vick on the football field! Hilarious. I’d find it but damnit it I’m on my lunch hour.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution (ajc.com) sports section has been doing a great job of coverage..even though the paper’s a liberal rag. They did a poll, and 90% do not want Vick to ever agai play for the Falcons..
