The first lie really was that he called an AK-47 a powerful rifle. People can buy hunting rifles that are much more powerful.

And much more accurate.

AK’s sold in the US are semiauto only, built on US made recievers. The reporter knows nothing.

Some experts may disagree, but I’ve read the best quality AK’s were those made in the DDR, the old East Germany.

Ragbourn said the term "assault weapon" was coined by the gun industry years ago as a marketing tool.

A particularly outrageous and bold-faced lie. The term was coined by gun-control advocates to attempt to create a problem that didn't and still doesn't really exist. The entire body of the fraudulent and ineffective "Assault Weapons Ban" was written around this little rhetorical scam.

I'm in the middle of building my first AK-style weapon from a flat blank and a Romanian parts kit right now.

I wonder what this sissy reporter would think about my ability to do this in my own garage without a gummint background check?

So, what is the average price of a WASR? What type of ammo? High capacity mags available? And, most importantly, pictures?

“He said any weapon capable of firing multiple rounds in a split second shouldn’t be offered on store shelves.”

Apparently, a Ruger 10/22 is also an assault weapon.

The explanation you gave has been offered by so many already but the MSM just don’t get it. But it is more likely that they don’t want to get it in order to promote their leftist agenda.

I think it's the latter.

This article is a perfect example of why people cannot trust the media to tell them the truth about either guns, or gun control.

I telephoned the author of the article. He was receptive to my questioning of his use of the term assault rifle. The man simply was unaware of the true definition of assault rifle.
I thought the cost of the AKs was high but he said he checked with three guns stores and they were selling them for the price he quoted. Credit to him for doing the checking.

So, what is the average price of a WASR?

I paid $350.00 for mine.

What type of ammo?

7.62 X 39mm.

High capacity mags available?

Mine came with 2 30 rounds mags. Additional ones can be had for about $20.00 or so.

most importantly, pictures?

Here's the package I got:

Enjoy.

AJ: There was a young man, in Utah I think, who had a really good web-site on AK clones. I was on it a couple months ago but can’t find it now.
In particular he had an article on how to address “trigger-slap” by taking a Dremel to the disconnector. You wouldn’t have that site address, would you? td

I love my WASR.

I certainly like mine. I bought a 75-rd RPK drum mag for it. I can just about shoot prone with it, unlike when using my 30 & 40 rd mags. Lol.

Good luck finding a Colt.
Colt has made it prohibitively difficult to get their AR-15s unless your LEO or goobermint.

So, what is the average price of a WASR?

Mine was $350 at Dunhams.

What type of ammo?

7.62x39

High capacity mags available?

Yup. I purchased several 30 & 40 round mags, plus a 75-rd RPK drum mag, (at a gun show).

7.62x39 AKs aren't bad (I have a few -47 semi's), but I love my Polish 5.45x39 AKM-74 semi. (smile) She's a sweet shooter wih a very flat trajectory. Plus surplus 5.45x39 is selling cheaper than 7.62x39 these days...

don’t you just get so tired of the dumb b@@tards in the press? the AK round is ballistically about equal to the .30-30 winchester of western fame. that does not put it in the “high-powered rifle” category.at any rate,I will buy, collect, shoot, and hunt with whatever I damn well please, thank you very much..I didn’t survive the inconveniences of TET ‘68 to have to listen to some dude whining about restricting my 2nd AMNENDMENT RIGHTS..Joe Biden,et.al., not withstanding

I’ve got about 50/50 20 and 30 round magazines. cheaperthandirt and Sportsmans Guide call the 20 rounders: `Hungarian tankers’.
So if I ever find myself in a Hungarian tank, I’m ready! ;^)

Btw, the web-site I mention above had an interesting article on `bump-shooting’. Have never tried it but it’s supposed to simulate auto. fire. Sounds expensive....

No, US made parts, the receivers can be foreign. I think mine was milled in Belgium.
