The two terrorist attacks known worldwide by their dates—9/11 and 7/7—inspired suspicion of Muslims in communities in both Europe and America. But each one also symbolizes the different relations each continent has with their Muslim populations. On 9/11, America was attacked by Muslims who came here solely for the purpose of attacking it. On 7/7, London was bombed by British Muslims who were products of their own society. What lessons Europe and America each draw from this will determine the future of their Muslims and their national identity.
The Muslim communities of North America and Europe are often compared, with the conclusion that American Muslims are better integrated, less likely to be radicalized than their European counterparts. But as the war on terror proceeds, racial profiling, the lack of direct communication between Muslims and the government, and the use of paid confidential informants to monitor the Muslim community are all causing an increasing rift between American society and Muslims. In the end, these issues could undo the integration that American Muslims have previously achieved and create the same marginalization and exclusion from society facing European Muslims. This alienation became painfully evident two years ago, when the suburbs of Paris were burning in protest after two French Muslim youths were killed trying to run away from police. The barrier of suspicion made it virtually impossible for French authorities to quell the violence. In response, European countries have been busy trying to create "moderate" Muslim organizations for them to interface with. But these organizations carry very little legitimacy among the Muslim communities they supposedly represent. America is fortunate enough to have a strong civil society from which indigenous Muslim organizations are already emerging.

They’re not integrating on either side of the Atlantic. Most of them try to recreat their Old Country, now they’re a country within a country. Forced multiculturalism doesn’t work anywhere.

2ndD: we came this ' ' close to being decapitated on 9/11. That is, no US govt. anymore. We have more initiative to work with our native pro-US Muslims than does any EU country: they've kinda written themselves off, or so it seems.

USA political parties, particularly the Dems, kissed black butt for decades. Now they kiss Mex butt. No reason not to expect politicians wouldn’t kiss Muslim butt.

Paris burned because there were NO consequences for muslim offenders. Thousands rioted, only a hundred or so “leaders’ were arrested. It took more than a month to bring in the army.

Such riots could never happen here for one reason. AMERICANS ARE ARMED!
Its the same pattern all over the world. in unarmed societies muslims run amok. When they face serious consequences-like getting shot, muslims either run away or behave themselves.
Q: How American Muslims could become as alienated as European Muslims.
A: Mosques
As someone else commented, I don’t think differences in US and European Muslims have much to do with the factors normally discussed (integration, education, blah, blah, blah), but with the percentage of population here and there. The 1% - 2% in the US is tiny compared to the 5% - 10% in European nations. They went years without creating much stir in Europe, but when any group “gets numbers” the safety in numbers effect takes place and they become more assertive and more able to form their own large communities.
The more Muslims there are in Europe or the US, the less integrated they’ll be, and the more alienated (by choice) from mainstream societies. Muslims have a belief system that isn’t compatible with democracy and individual freedom, and the more there are in a free society, the more they’ll try and assert their beliefs upon the free society, and there’ll be increasing friction as we constantly see in Europe, and to some extent in the US where many Muslims live.

the USA is already bending over for these muzzies...airport taxi drivers/madrassas schools in brooklyn, ny and in san diego, ca/foot baths in universities/allowance of towels on heads as part of their dress....

Do you even know any ‘pro-US muslims’ ?? I don’t. The few muslims that I occasionally talk to are not. If the conversation ever gets to belief systems, most admit that loyalty to the USA rates far below their culteral teachings. Yes they enjoy the American lifestyle, but I have no doubt that they are just violence awaiting a trigger.
The ‘vet’ has it right. If there is any type of major incident again in the USA, the smart muzzies will be out of the country before the dust settles because the slower ones will be doing a dirt nap shortly.
I second what you have said. If there is another attack on the USA, the angry backlash against Muslims will be so hugh that they will have no choice but to either leave this country or leave their religion.
