yes and he should be introduced to a unique idea-that “words (and actions) have consequences”.
Telluride is hardly alone in that regard ... nearly all resort areas are strong consumer areas with little manufacturing. Telluride perhaps more so because it's in a fairly remote area of Colorado, not easily accessible.
In terms of backhaul, or lack of same, a better example would be the New England area, especially MA. T/L carriers are forced to charge rates into New England that are twice what they charge on freight going out of this area ... that is, if they can find a backhaul load.
Sad, because if she can't get a grip she's going to end up losing a LOT.
Probably a similarity to the town government.

She’s been with the company 30 years and has seen the before and after of the influx and resulting difficulties related to Liberal migration to various regions around the Nation.
PNW region is difficult to gain backhauls as well and often a moratorium is placed upon freight booked into that area as the trucks get there, but cannot get backhauls out. Imagine a portion of ones fleet the size of many smaller trucking companies sitting in one district because there isn’t any freight to haul out. Especially today with the fuel prices sky high, it costs way too much to deadhead.
And to prove that liberals have strength in their convictions only if it doesn't affect their pocketbook, they will reverse themselves next week.
Doesn’t Telluride officials have things they should be interested in? Police protection, garbage pick up fees, zoning ordinances? It is probably why the Constitution does not give Telluride the power to impeach eh?
Thanks for this link...just sent a nice email asking them to consider who “carries the weight” of their paychecks and other city bills and it certainly isn’t the homeless and wished them good luck.
"Thank you for publicly calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney.
It reinforced how fundamentally non-serious you are. Skiing is a recreation paid for out of discretionary income - please be assured that I, along with my family and friends, will find other, better, more welcoming, places to spend money.
I hope your smugness is sufficient to keep you feeling "warm and fuzzy" next winter..."
It's the vacationers who pay the freight; not the residents.
Didn’t John Galt go to Telluride?
Resort areas in Colorado are populated with the out-of-towners who reside there in seasons or a lot of young people who work at the resorts. There are others but that accounts for a good chunk.
May I suggest Copper Mountain, Beaver Creek, or Vail as good alternatives to Telluride? Breckenridge is also a lot of fun. All of the above are easy to get to from Denver or Colorado Springs and all are very tourist friendly.
Telluride is so beautiful and we were planning on driving over this summer. I think I will instead go to Santa Fe.
I live in the Memphis area, and the only thing that keeps me here is the grandkids!
Oh, but with biodiesel or hybrid trucks, then they aren't causing much pollution as they run empty... They do use hybrid trucks, don't they? ;-)
