WASHINGTON Former Sen. Fred Thompson, a Republican presidential candidate in waiting, candidly answered a question at a campaign stop in Texas yesterday regarding his membership in the Council on Foreign Relations, sometimes referred to as a "shadow government" organization of elites with a global agenda.
In an exchange caught on YouTube that later deteriorated into a police encounter, an activist asked Thompson about his membership in the group, linking it with plans for a "North American Union."

What do "conservatives" actually conserve? In my case, I try to conserve Constitutional rule. I wonder about folks like you. Are you not alarmed that the woman was removed because of the nature of a single question she asked? Bear in mind that she was silent following her question and peaceful right up to the moment they grabbed her to pull her away.
She did nothing to warrant that treatment. Perhaps she broached a sensitive topic that is being suppressed. Kooks have the same rights as others. Most folks like you overlook the possibility that direct and proper answers would alleviate the fears some people are developing. This sort of response aggravates those fears.
You are right to be confused. Trying to freep while on a Treo is a pain. I was confusing two posts. Sorry. I think in our case you and I agree to a large extent.

I'm a 'friend of fred', donated and put my name on the Long Island volunteer list to host events at my house.
But, I have been digging around in the SPP/NAU yard for a while and there are some disturbing notions about the future of our country being floated. Many of us believe that the amnesty bill was just a skirmish compared to what may be coming. I think that every candidate should be on the record on this.
She got a very good answer that was well delivered, and spot on to her question. My problem is, why did they remove her from the forum? She was not causing a stir until they grabbed her.
If the nature of the question unnerved the political elite, perhaps there is something lurking below the surface. On the other hand, the woman might have gone home with an answer that helps to allay her fears. Now she, and others as well, have been strongly reinforced.
No, the dishonesty is your refusal to interpret spoken and written English in context. In addition, you read IN what you’d like to be there.
You just keep posting—everyone can see your handiwork and judge for themselves.
Right now, you are a hard-core follower of an honorable candidate who is stuck at the bottom of the polls with 4 other candidates. Your only weapon, as far as you can see, is to badmouth and distort. You Duncanistas are like peas in a pod.
Look it up on their website, they don’t hide it.
It is their stra-tegery they keep hidden.
Absolutely correct.
Bad example, I understand Chris Dodd was a subsititue Dark Arts professor for two terms. They had to let him go due to his wand being limp...
He did not answer whether he supported open borders or a NAU.
I do not trust the CFR.
I think it is predominantly an organization of government and corporate elites working to further solidify power and ability to bolster cash streams.
I guess you didn't watch the video. She asked her question, then remained silent. She was not unruly. Crazy is not a reason to remove someone from a political forum.
The question she asked is legitimate to those who think like this woman. Fred's answer might have served to allay her fears if she were just left alone. It is very telling that the question triggered her removal. Kooks the world over can now bond together with hard evidence that some questions make the candidates run for cover.
Talk about playing right into the hands...
I really worry about Fred and his security team after this incident.
You tell em,Jim!!!!!Got 3 votes here and I am working on more!!!!!
She was yelling and acting hysterical.
We also don’t know if it was Fred’s staff or the venue’s staff that hauled her out.
Unless CFR rhymes with "fire", I don't think you have a connection. The woman asked a legitimate question.
And he answered it. He doesn’t know anything about it because IT DOESN’T EXIST.
When she started the 9/11 conspiracy crap, she became a nuisance and was hauled out there.
That's because it's not their "agenda." It may be the agenda of some members of the CFR but not the organization as a whole. Therefore, his answer was perfectly acceptable.
You would think FRed was a liberal democrat the way some people on FR talk about him.
Capitalism is just plain terrible ain’t it.
Keep in mind that he's apparently walk down a hall to another location and passing by these people with questions. He's giving short answers, not responding at length.
He’s a Marxist capitalist libertarian...
“Third option: He knows they’re up to no such thing...”
At some point you naysayers are going to either face facts or give up the phoney act. Frankly ReignOfError, I get the impression that the actors here who feign denial and use “tinfoil hat wearing” attacks, do so in an attempt to silence discussion of an agenda with which they AGREE. It’s getting harder and harder to dismiss it’s existence when 19 States have already introduced resolutions opposing the creation of a North American Union. That’s a lot of opposition by a lot of Legislators for something that doesn’t exist.
