Fight Not Over: Churchill Sues CU Professor Compared 9-11 Victims To Nazis
POSTED: 9:34 pm EDT July 24, 2007 UPDATED: 2:14 pm EDT July 25, 2007 BOULDER, Colo. -- Just when you thought the saga between Ward Churchill and the University of Colorado was over, it's not.
The CU professor is challenging his dismissal from the university and it could take another year before a jury hears the case.
"I am going nowhere," Churchill said Tuesday after university regents voted 8-1 to dismiss him.
The regents said that they fired the ethnic studies professor on grounds of academic misconduct and plagiarism. The university said he is not being fired for his volatile speech about the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Churchill's essay, titled "Some People Push Back: On Justice Of Roosting Chickens," compared some of the victims of the World Trade Center to Nazi Adolf Eichmann, who helped orchestrate the Holocaust. That comparison sparked a national outrage and forced school officials to closely scrutinize Churchill's academic writings, research, and even his ethnicity.
Churchill's lawyer said they are "now on offense" and he will electronically file a First Amendment retaliation lawsuit on Wednesday. Attorney David Lane said this is an amendment to a pending lawsuit that Churchill had filed in October 2006 over a salary dispute.

I certainly hope so.
I’m glad he’s sticking around. He’s been very useful to me in political forums. Just ask somebody what they think of Churchill, and you’ll know exactly what your dealing with.
L
I do not care if he does not go. Just do not pay him, give him office space, classroom space, or a parking space. Then if he sticks around, find out how to charge him rent.
And lose badly, there is no contitutional right to plagarize and manufacture facts.
maybe they could change the lock on his former office door. that might help.
A “First Amendment retaliation” suit? He got fired for plagarism and lies about his academic qualifications, not his comment about little Eichmanns or other stupid remarks he made during speeches.
If he was a minority he would have a good chance. As a white guy with no minority privilege, he is sunk.
Trespassing’s a crime. Maybe “Little Eichmann” Churchill can rent a piece of sidewalk outside the day labor office.
Translation:
“I didn’t get any job offers from anywhere else.”
Whaaa! Banging drums. What a bunch of drug addled idiots. No doubt many of them are fake Indian wannabees like their hero.
Ward will get a $95k check as he leaves...and rapidly spend that in less than nine months on himself and the lawyers. I doubt that he has more than $100k in savings. As for speaking engagements...he won’t get much of a invitation to come on university grounds...and without special interest groups backing him...his future is slim.
He anticipates that he can overturn the decision...but I’m guessing that state court won’t agree with that (more right-wing than left)....and the supreme court won’t touch this matter (my honest opinion). So eighteen months of sitting around Colorado Springs...won’t do nothing but burn up the $95k and his savings. He will write a book...but sales will likely be dismal.
The professor is referring to his career, right?
Do not give him any space. There are more deserving people for that space.
Do not let him in front of any classroom.
The falsifying of his resume is enough to be fired over. I would be fired if I did it, and so would any of you.
If he was a minority he would have a good chance. As a white guy with no minority privilege, he is sunk.
Didn’t he sign on as a Native American?
Perhaps he’s claiming that one again?....:^)
It would be interesting to watch as the CU attorneys take him apart in cross examination and in depositions.
We've always known that, but now you'll be going there on your own dime rather than the university's.
That sounds about right.
