Terrorist Boy Scouts?

7/25/2007

Let me say up front: I am not making this up.

There's a Boy Scout camp in Colorado where they've taught gun safety and target shooting for years. Well, when some newcomer neighbors complained about it, the county sheriff there likened the place to a "Hamas training camp."

Elbert County Sheriff William Frangis, who's testified in favor of gun bans in Denver on multiple occasions, now has the Boy Scouts in his sights.

So, what were the Scouts doing that caused all the commotion?

Shooting sporting clays during a two-day fundraiser.

Yeah, I know: So what?

The Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch has had a shooting range for rifles and pistols for years. No one ever complained about it before.

But as the anti-gun granola crowd has moved out of the cities to find trees to hug and people to boss around, the Boy Scouts of Peaceful Valley have found themselves under attack.

Instead of doing the neighborly thing and going directly to the Scouts with their complaint, these new busybody neighbors complained to the cops. And, being that Sheriff Frangis seems to hate the Second Amendment, he was only too happy to help.

So when the Scout camp tried to get a permit from the county commissioners to continue shooting on the range, Sheriff Frangis-and those nay-saying neighbors-were there to shut them down.

Frangis warned of lead shot. He spoke ominously of seeing people smoking cigarettes near so-called "stockpiles of ammunition."

One activist said, "It was like World War III had started."

Who are these people?

A county sheriff ought to know that, as far as environmental hazards go, the lead on a shooting range isn't much of a threat.

A county sheriff ought to know that shotgun shells won't suddenly explode in a fireball just because somebody is smoking a cigarette nearby.

A county sheriff ought to know that the Boy Scouts are an important organization that does a lot of good for our country and our kids.

And he shouldn't liken them to terrorists just to grab headlines for his own anti-gun agenda. Audio stream (MP3 file): Download

“Does Colorado have a range protection law?”

I have no idea. Sorry.

I'll bet the one thing this county sheriff knows is that he wants these people's votes come election time.

I friend of mine has a family cattle ranch in the Texas panhandle. Its like been in his family for generations. Kalifornos have moved in and are harassing the ranchers and farmers. They have had to organize to protect their operations.

I think I would make it clear to the outsiders that they are now in Texas and Texans farm and ranch for a living and it is their right to do so. Anybody that gets in the way of farming and ranching will be dealt with..

I would offer the give the dufi(that’s plural for dufus) shooting lessons. Must antigunners are that way because they have never been arond guns or gun owners. They may be enough converts among them to turn the tide.

A county sheriff ought to be thrown out of office at the next election?

The one that holds to Christian values.

Scouts don't have to be Christians. They can be Jewish, Hindu, Buddist even Muslim. But they must pledge to do their duty to God, but only as they personally understand what their duty to Him is.

Someone needs to explain the Texas "justification for use of deadly force" law(s) to them.

Here's a link to the relevant statutes. :)

Here's one portion of that:

§ 9.41. PROTECTION OF ONE'S OWN PROPERTY. (a) A person in lawful possession of land or tangible, movable property is justified in using force against another when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to prevent or terminate the other's trespass on the land or unlawful interference with the property.

If the Sheriff’s position is elected like most places, then the residents around the county would have chosen him. His anti-gun stance is a reflection of those that elected him.

What part of the panhandle? I’m originally from Glasscock County just east of Midland.

"His anti-gun stance is a reflection of those that elected him."

If that's true, then they all have a screw loose.

It's happened before.

I guess Lurker Jr and I better not wear our Class A Scout uniforms anywhere near this guy.

We'd hate to be mistaken for Hamas members.

I mean the resemblance can be very striking. It's easy to see how a highly trained law enforcement officer could make the mistake.

See if you can spot the difference.

Hey did I mention that Lurker Jr got his "Death To Infidel Jews" merit badge at summer camp last week?

We're so proud. We just don't want him to blow up too fast.

I'm sure the Kalifirnia transplants have problems with the irrigation circles as well. I've noticed lately an anti-agriculture attitude coming from the left. They are not satisfied with having destroyed American industry now they have farming in their sights. Having control over food is a diabolical thing. They can starve off most of the third world and get a good start on this country.

Durn near the other end of the panhandle from my old stomping grounds.

Yeah, the articles on how farmers are using up all the ‘precious’ water resources for irrigation are becoming more and more frequent. The envirowhackos would love nothing better than to starve 99% of the world’s population to death and make most of the rest live as serfs doing subsistence farming. I ahte the way the kalifornios leave that messed up state for other states where they can live cheaper, and then proceed to try to screw up their new home just like they did to the formerly golden state.

Enviormentalsts foul their own nest then go foul some body else's nest.

It seems clear to me that they would break up the large farms and give the parcels to "the people" so they can all have organic farms. The other peoples who depend on the USA for food can just pack sand for all that they are concerned. The point is to disenfranchise the "factory farmer."

It seem ironic that the California dairy farmers have been moving into Texas and the very people that caused them to move are following them.

“starve 99% of the world’s population to death and make most of the rest live as serfs doing subsistence farming.”

Josef Stalin and his buddy Beria tried that. It worked, too, for about 40,000,000 people.

And the Left now wants to silence people who have differing opinions!

Crazy to think that we put up with a Stalinist calling our Boy Scouts terrorists.

Possibly some explanation regarding the Sheriff, a former BATFE Agent, may be shown in some of the past actions of the Sheriff:
