Commenting on this, another site did this story:

Hypocrites: Is Homewrecker Laurie David A Secret "Carbon Sasquatch"?

When the Davids' divorce was made public on June 27th, commenter and "Camp David" neighbor Jackie Mendez-Diez (who also recently opened up about her views on Laurie's carbon footprint to the Boston Globe) had this to say:

Actually, Laurie David has been creating one HUGE carbon footprint here on Martha's Vineyard for the last 6 years. Her disgusting and ostentatious trophy building has been virtually ceaseless for about 6 years now. The trucks and pollution stop only when Mrs. Carbon Sasquatch is here for her summer vacation, making herself the center of everyone's attention.

And I'd say the fact that I saw Laurie and her hottie but dumb building contractor, Bart Thorpe, holding hands while walking on a secluded dock to a boat yesterday, has a lot more to do with her marriage breaking up than the scratchy toilet paper she's forced on her family. I've also seen Bart bicycling in front of my house with a little girl he kept calling, Romy [Laurie's daughter is named Romy]. Bart, coincidentally, left his wife recently, too.

I met Laurie David 6 years ago. I didn't like her then. I don't like her now. She is the prime example of a spoiled, selfish, rich girl who says, "do what I say, not what I do". She is a narcissist and a hypocrite to the nth degree.

Larry David is the real world model for George Castanza, and somehow this all sounds like something that would naturally happen to George. Scratchy toilet paper included.

I’m sure Laurie isn’t going to want much money out of the divorce to fund her lifestyle and boy-toy.

Well-played.

Larry David is probably happy that nuttier-than-a-fruitcake Laurie is gone.

"Bart is so besotted he doesn't know which end is up," said a Chilmark resident, who did not want to be named. "He thinks Laurie David is the greatest person in the world. He says: 'She's single-handedly saving the planet.' It's like he's another person.

It sounds like Bart needs those nice young men in their clean white coats, to come, and take him away, hee hee, haa haa, to the Funny Farm, where life is beautiful all the time.

She’s just saving the planet, one Republican at a time.....

See, the master plan is to seduce married Republicans, get them to abandon their spouses for a declaration of devotion to hybrid cars, scratchy toilet paper, no tangerines (per Elizabeth Edwards), and endless harangues about climate change.

Laurie David is just doing her part — so long as she gets a big enough divorce settlement and gets to keep flying in private planes, she’s happy......

I'm not at all surprised to hear this, and am inclined to believe it entirely. Typical liberal.

If this guy is really a Republican then it’s more than a little ironic. Larry David had an episode in his CYE show where he was shocked to find out that he had slept with a woman who was a Republican.

"Yes, I take a private plane on holiday a couple of times a year, and I feel horribly guilty about it. I probably shouldn't do it. But the truth is, I'm not perfect. This is not about perfection. I don't expect anybody else to be perfect either. That's what hurts the environmental movement – holding people to a standard they cannot meet. That just pushes people away."

Typical limo-lib.

From Wikipedia:

Laurie David has been subject to persistent criticism for being less than consistent in her environmental positioning. In an interview with The Guardian in November of 2006, Ms. David acknowledged that owning two homes on opposite sides of the country and flying in a private jet several times per year is at odds with her message to others. In the interview she notes "Yes, I take a private plane on holiday a couple of times a year, and I feel horribly guilty about it. I probably shouldn't do it. But the truth is, I'm not perfect. This is not about perfection. I don't expect anybody else to be perfect either. That's what hurts the environmental movement – holding people to a standard they cannot meet. That just pushes people away."[4]

Hypocrite!!

Jackie Mendez-Diez

Jackie has been the peeble in the David's shoes since they arrived in Chilmark. Larry couldn't have invented a better character to torment him if he'd tried.

She blew the whistle on them building a firepit (carbon footprint anyone?)inside the buffer zone for wetlands without permits. They then blamed their contractor - presumably Mr. Thorpe for the "oversight" and then attempted to have the work approved after the fact. The Chilmark Conservation Commission said no way Jose and had them pull it out. There has also been the issue of a footbridge across the wetlands. I think a search at the Martha's Vineyard Times for Jackie's letters might prove amusing for anyone seeking further episodes of "Curb Your Environmentalism"

76-acre compound in the island's Chilmark neighborhood

Holy crap. Is that common on Martha's Vineyard? I didn't think Nantucket or the Cape has properties like that.

“Bart Thorpe”-—you gotta love that name as a cast member in this story. And I got the impression that he was some kind of important Republican, not just a guy who had voted Republican. Anyway, it only makes me like Larry David more, who I sense allowed himself to get dragged along with all this GOre crap for the sake of his marriage.
Larry is just too damned crotchety and cynical to get stars in his eyes over someone like Al Gore.
