Hunter: 'Postage stamp' Israel should not give up 'one inch' of territory

WASHINGTON — A contender for the Republican presidential nomination has ruled out an Israeli withdrawal as part of any peace accord with the Arabs. Rep. Duncan Hunter, one of 10 Republicans vying for their party's 2008 presidential nomination, said Israel must not withdraw from "one inch" of territory as part of an Arab peace accord. Hunter, the former chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, termed Israel a "postage stamp of a country" that could not afford to cede territory.

On May 20, Hunter, a California Republican, voiced his position during a meeting with Christian Zionists in Alexandria, Va. He recalled his visit to the Golan Heights, the scene of intense armored battles with Syria during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Middle East Newsline reported.

During his trip, Hunter and his father were taken to a narrow valley in which a handful of Israeli main battle tanks blocked more than 1,400 Soviet-built Syrian MBTs during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The House member recalled that at that point he vowed to support Israel's territorial claims.

Juvenile? Poll watching, which you had such disdain for when Rudy was front and center, is juvenile.

Not one inch of Israel’s land should ever be given to the Palestinian murderers.

You show up on every Duncan thread to let everybody know he’s going nowhere. Might as well just hang it up. He doesn’t appeal to conservatives. He’ll never get above the 1% mark. It’s a losing cause.

Torn down.

My disdain for Rooty Toot is based on the facts of his lifetime liberal record.

Your attacks on FredT show a desperation that is not in step with conservatism. There is little rationale and logic coming from these attacks, just a whole lotta emotion.

You’re outta control.

Reagan man is alright. Like many Fredheads, he’ll be getting on the Hunter bandwagon when he sees it rising.

If your statement were factual, you would make it and let it stand.

You are grinding away with wishful thinking over and over.

No facts, wishful thinking.

I think that Iran & Syria would have a lot to be concerned about if I were ever elected President.

Hopefully Hunter will get the reigns and demonstrate that he really means what he says.

I’d appreciate that.

Always good to know that there are still some on FR who live by phony media-pushed polls....do they have more faith in poll than they do their candidate?

I suppose they’d let RATSmussen select the next President? Hey, polls really helped Jean Kerry, didn’t they? George Soros’ billions couldn’t buy the Presidency, so the “who has more money” argument doesn’t wash eithter!

Since some seem to worship them, here’s a few poll links for them....maybe they will start paying attention who the REAL conservative is in the race:

http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/poll?poll=186;results=2

Maybe they have not been looking at these either:

Hunter beats McCain in his home state:

http://schotlinepress.wordpress.com/2007/03/03/sc-straw-poll-makes-it-clearduncan-hunter-has-emerged-as-conservative-answer/

Must not even pay attention to FOX polls....

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,255999,00.html

Listening to a pollster makes as much sense as pulling the lever for (R) or (D) regardless of who the candidate is. “Principle over party” or put my faith in paltry polls that I have never heard of, which is a strategy for victory?

>>>>>You show up on every Duncan thread to let everybody know he’s going nowhere.

Way overstated. I've been on a few threads for the past few days speaking the truth. Trashing FredT doesn't help Duncan Hunter's campaign. Obviously you don't like hearing the truth about Hunter's campaign. Too bad.

“It is clear our message of maintaining a strong national defense, securing our border without amnesty, holding China accountable on trade, and protecting life are resonating with the voters. Our campaign is one of issues, not flash and expense. We don’t have a jet or an army of consultants and paid staff. We do have the conservative message that is true. In the end, that will be what Americans want.”

Zing me, ping me.

Btw, you know I’m not a Fredhead. But if I was, I wouldn’t be tearing down Cong Hunter to make FredT look better.

I’d be proud to vote for Hunter for POTUS. First he has to win the nomination. Right now that looks doubtful. But miracles do happen, even in politics.
