Former KGB agent warns he is on Russia's hit list

A FORMER KGB agent fears he will be the next victim of the escalating diplomatic row between Britain and Russia.

Victor Makarov, who risked his life to pass secrets to Britain before he defected 15 years ago, last night warned he remained on a 'hit-list' of fugitives targeted for assassination by President Vladimir Putin.

He claimed the increasingly bitter row over the poisoning of former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko increased the danger of an attempt on his life.

"I expect the KGB to try and kill me," said Makarov, who is demanding greater support and protection from the British authorities. "They will try to shoot me in the back of the head, but they might use poison.

"They never forget. They are already monitoring my calls. When I was at the KGB in the 1970s they were still chasing people who had betrayed them 30 years before."

Meanwhile, a warm welcome is set to be rolled out for a Russian military delegation due to arrive in Scotland this week to publicise their appearance at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that there would be an official visit.

>Former KGB agent warns he is on Russia’s hit list...

Strange title. Strange thinking.
I do believe that the correct term would be “fears” he is on...

And Putin needs to be shot before he does damage that Russia won’t walk away from.
Despite what the old KGB hacks are thinking as they play a merry game, I do believe that most everything that they are doing has a very large downside in the longer term.

And Putin is still a Communist.

From Wikipedia:

“Putin graduated from the International Branch of the Law Department of the Leningrad State University in 1975 and was recruited into the KGB. In the University he also became a member of the Soviet Communist Party, and has never formally resigned from it.”

What “damage”?:) If you mean the tons of bullsh*t they throw at him in the propaganda press campaign then Putin is just above that. He need to show that the russian president will not bow to the press slander. Or next time they will find something same ridicluous to blackmail the another president.
Accually from this slander campaign Britain hurts her economical interests. But they sttarted it so they are responsible for all consequances.

No Ivan Ivanich, Putin is very well known here in the West by those things that he actually DOES and those actions that he actually TAKES, and the press that you refer to has absolutely nothing to do with it at all.

The world will be a better place when Russia rids itself of the true Communists.
Or, is incinerated by their stupid policies.

He probably defected the new Russia.

If Russia is really so new, then why must people defect from it? Why do so many still seek to escape the gulag nation Russia if it is so different now? Why did this man remain imprisoned years after the collapse of the Soviet Union? Maybe because Russia hasn't changed at all. Why is he still targeted now? Because Russia is run by a man whose loyalty to communism never swerved. Cheka Putin dedicated his whole life to enslaving his fellow Russians to Soviet slavery. Putin still seeks to kill any who betrayed the EVIL EMPIRE he misses so much. Putin is not repentant for his misdeeds, but rather proud of his loyalty to the Soviet Union. He is proud of how he kept his fellow Russians enslaved and he will kill anyone who revolted against the evil Soviet system. Putin deserves death. He deserves to be tortured until he's dead, like the miserable deaths he condemned so many of his fellow Russians to in the gulags while he loyally served the Soviet Gestapo. Death to the murdering scum Putin!

For what?

I guess for hate speech. The primary goals of this forum are "to further conservatism, expose political corruption, and recover a truly constitutional form of government" (taken from FR posting guidelines). Spewing hatred toward some certain ethnic groups apparently provides no contribution to achievement of these goals.
