MCMINNVILLE, Ore., July 22 (UPI) -- Two 13-year-old Oregon boys are facing serious sex charges for allegedly slapping female classmates' bottoms as a form of horseplay.
Police arrested Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison of McMinnville and if convicted could be permanently marked as sex offenders, The Portland Oregonian said Sunday. The teens also could spend as long as 10 years in juvenile detention if found guilty.
While the boys' parents have opposed such a harsh penalty, McMinnville District Aattorney Bradley Berry said such youthful acts could have longstanding consequences for the alleged victims.
"These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
Interviews with the boys' fellow students found other teens were engaging in similar behavior at the time and two of the female victims have since recanted their statements.
The Oregonian said the boys are due in court on Aug. 20 to answer to all charges stemming from the February event.
Yeah, and this girl was offering herself to them.
Thanks, but the boy needed advice more than I do. His disrespect for others and his lack of self-discipline paved his way to drug addiction.
It sounds as both boys and girls could use a lesson about what they should expect of themselves and others.

I’m trying to “ping” you two to a thread that went up a couple of weeks ago. Originally the news article, with info provided by the defense...heh....said that the two boys involved were guilty only of a little “butt slapping”. Also, the news article reported, based on info provided by the defense, said that the girls were too slapping the boys on the bottom. Also, the news article reported, based on info provided by the defense, the some of the original offendEES were recanting their testimony.
None of the above was true and I had to wade through a sign-up screen for some third-rate newspaper, providing my name and email, to get at the truth.
Please note that many of the posters on this thread went on what I now call the “conservative boors anti-female rant”, with the help of a few females, sad to say.

First off, whatever hang-ups you have you should seek counseling for, secondly, all of these boys and girls are acquainted with each other. There is no “strange man” aspect to this so stop ranting about how you would be mortally wounded should a strange man ever attempt to touch your backside, it has about as much bearing on this case as the price of tea in China. I don’t know MEG. But yeah, I suppose those girls should have defended themselves but....hey, recall these boys put on this show while in school. It seems they did this sort of thing during class change.
I don’t know what the girls did about it but I’m just not convinced an adolescent girl would be brave enough to kick a boy in the gonads doing that to her. The action of a guy in front of her “dry humping” her and a guy in back “dry humping” her at the same time can be very intimidating, don’t you think?
Yes, MEG, I knew intuitively you were a female. Your response wasn’t boorish and mean like many male response on this thread. Your response made entirely too much sense to be a boorish male response. Not ALL the males on this thread, I hasten to add. My experience is that most males on FreeRepublic are fairly nice. A few on this thread are forty plus going on ten.
Those boys’ original contention, or that published by their defense attorneys, was that they’d only been giving those girls a mild swat on the butt. Now it seems that those boys have been terrorizing these girls for quite a while, the whole time hooting it up and high-fiving for the free feels and fun they’re having.
The girls evidently went to the school authorities about it, because why else would a cop already be on site, as was indicated in the article? I’m willing to bet they have these boys’ actions on very clear videotape which is the only reason they ADMITTED to what they did. Hey, they’ve got defense attorneys that fooled many of the posters on THIS thread, go to hell. No way they’d admit to doing the stuff accused of unless there’s a tape somewhere showing it very clear.
So your assertion that these poor terrorized girls should just kick them in the toolbox, I’m not convinced that that would be the right reaction. Seems to me they did the right thing and those boys got caught.
I’m more concerned about decent conservative men, first thing they attack ME for daring to suggest that even uninvited pats on the butt should not be allowed, but the whole thing ended up so much worse. You won’t see any of the men who called me names and worse admitting the error of their ways. Not that I expect them to.

The problem with a swift kick to the tool box is that the males (both the victims of said kicks - and male posters here) can then turn it around and ask, “We aren’t allowed to kick females! Why should they be allowed to kick us?” You see, it’s a no-win situation for females.

Some of these people really think that for females to be subject to this kind of treatment is perfectly okay, so long as they are “acquainted” with the guys doing it to them.
