LOS ANGELES - A team of burglars has lifted more than $7 million in jewelry, rare books and cash from dozens of homes in the citys wealthiest neighborhoods, slipping in and out without tripping elaborate alarms or leaving so much as a fingerprint behind, authorities say.
Like a plot from Oceans Eleven or The Italian Job, authorities say the thieves appear to be a crew of professionals.
Over the past year, they have hit the homes of celebrities, sports stars and corporate tycoons, plus non-celebrity mansions in Brentwood, Beverly Hills and the Platinum Triangle of Bel-Air, Encino and Holmby Hills, Lt. Ray Lombardo said Thursday.

Please, we must help. Send your donations in care of “stevio”, after the Freepathon of course.
People in Hollywood read books? Who knew!
I have as much sympathy for them as I do for the illegals. Rule of Law is a good thing if it is you it applies to otherwise you are just racist.
Sounds like someone has been listening to “Good Charlotte” a bit too much:
Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
They’re always complainin’
Always complainin’
If money is such a problem
Well they got mansions
Think we should rob them
No, they collect books to make them "look" smart, they don't actually read them, except the ones that are all pictures.
Redistribution of wealth. Heh heh
Well, if a Conservative is simply a Liberal that’s been mugged . . .
I don’t about you, but a damned thief is still a thief even if he/she steals from rich or poor. Most rich folks made it on their own, and don’t deserve to have anything taken from them by a thief, just like the rest of us don’t deserve such treatment. Hope the coppers catch those responsible soon and put them away for a long, long time.
Right On!
Those of us who pay homeowners premiums are helping already.
The loss will be passed on to the insurers who will turn around and pass it on to you and me.
I wouldn’t doubt that websites like Zillow.com for example, that allow anyone, anywhere to see ANY property in the USA from the North, South, East and West, are probably helping make it easier to pick and choose which ones they target.
Here you go Hollywood big shots....you learned it now, live it, and learn to love it....
From each according to his ability, to each according to his need ...

There was no casino involved, nor a zany cast of criminals. There were no Mini Coopers involved, safe crackers or aquaducts.
Thank you, Thank you Hollywood media.
Why does the city of LA paying for the reward (50K)? Wouldn’t the insurance companies or those that got robed put up the reward?
I’m not condoning thievery on anyone at anytime, irregardless of socioeconomic status. I was just attempting to be a little too clever and making an all too obscure reference - apparently.
