by a black female Sheriff’s deputy!
What does this deputy’s race have to do with anything? Did you notice that you wrote that? I get the message of the posting but that line causes me to pause.
I didn't like it much either. But I try to quote 'em as written, warts and all.
Could mean if anyone would appreciate the importance of the 2nd Amendment it would be a black, considering the history of gun control laws being used to disarm blacks, thus it is more surprising a black officer would participate in this action. I doubt the author would be suggesting that this black officer is too uppity thinking she can disarm white men. Then again you never know. Myself, I would resent being unlawfully disarmed by anyone regardless of race creed color sex (not gender).
True, if the authors intent was to point out the failures of the VBPD and Sheriff’s Dept. then stick to that.
The race offered nothing of substance to the story, why mention it at all?

Maybe the same thing that her gender had to do with it -- specificity. The article later says they are trying to find out the identity of "which officer started this whole thing."
If Chet is white, it could mean that she was being racist. Never mind, I forgot that minorities are not racist.
I caught that too. Unnecessary.
Maybe the person who wrote the post was trying to be as specific as possible.
