Pictures of DF-25 missile revealed for the first time, the medium range missiles which can carry 3 nuclear warheads

on July 15, 2007

[The Ming Bao special news] According to Central News Agency, Sina Net published two pictures of a new missile, "Dongfeng 25" (DF - 25) on its military homepage. This is the first time DF-25 has been revealed to the outsiders, according to the Hong Kong media.

The images of DF-25 are extremely clear, obviously are not faked. Moreover, they show that the missiles stand vertically at the back of their launching vehicle where they are prepared for launch.

DF-25 is one of the China's most advanced second-generation strategic missiles. It was the improved version based on DF-21 ground-to-ground strategic missile, and PLA will deploy them soon.

It is reported that DF-25 has the effective range of 3,200 kilometers, and, when launched inside the Chinese territory, may reach the majority of Asia, including U.S. military base in Guam on the Pacific Ocean. DF-25 uses the high energy solid rocket booster, can carry 3 miniaturized nuclear warheads, and is currently the world's only medium range MIRV missile.

China's second-generation strategic missiles include DF-21, DF-25, DF-31, DF-41, and Julang-2 series. All of them can be launched from a mobile launcher, may carry the nuclear warheads, and are accurate. Moreover, their survival rate is high.

Not to diminish the extent of Clinton’s treason, but I think people put far too much weight on the technology transfer he allowed. Listening to some of my fellow freepers, it seems like the U.S. is the only source of high (or even not so high) technology out there.

Actually not so in this case. The help the Chinese got from Loral et al. (courtesy of Clinton's intervention) was directly applicable to accurizing and MIRVing -- the application implemented in this missile.

Likewise, it would take specialized knowledge to tell whether the "miniaturizing" the Chinese did on their warheads in order to MIRV this missile was also obtained from the U.S. Given that this missile has appeared in a deployed, final-production configuration about 11 years after the Wen Ho Lee scandal, it sounds like this particular warhead's development was not achieved independently of their intelligence takings.

Comment? Dissent?

I agree with your reply, and not just the part about Sinkspur...

Clinton and company gave away the store. When Senate hearings were held over one hundred Asian operatives or witnesses fled the nation rather than testify.

Clinton should be sitting in a six by nine in Levenworth, and his wife likewise.

Actually, one of the pieces of technology the we DID give them under the Clinton watch really did have major military implicatons.

It was a very special computer controlled milling machine that was able to do things like go inside a cast titanium structure and mill out previously unreachable areas. If my memory serves me right, it was technology developed and owned by TRW.

This was highly classified and protected technology, freed for export by the Commerce Department which had the newly acquired ability to do just that in the Clinton Administration.

Using this device, 10-20% additional weight savings in a component can be realized. That translates IMMEDIATELY into more range or higher payload in combat aircraft, especially if it is a large item such as a titanium wing-box as is found in an F-14 or a B-1 bomber.

Or milled rings used in the body of an IBCM.

At least a less reliable and less accurate one.

right....
I rather favor the grassroots , peoples movement
to just avoid buying PRC products wherever and whenever possible.
To label read ....
Our Gov may never commit to putting the squeeze on these people
(unless we elect Rep. Duncan Hunter) , but we the consumers sure could . It would not be easy , but it would not be impossible either .
Look at what they are doing with the money we pay for their
goods....
We must always remember that Chinese quite often are thinking a generation or two in advance .
We must be very careful . Should have been much stronger in our support of Chiang kai Shek
