Thompson responds to Moore in press release
Thompson Responds to Sicko's Michael Moore
Hampton, Iowa Tuesday night on Larry King Live, Michael Moore attacked Dr. Sanjay Gupta's statistics saying they were tainted because they came from Dr. Paul Keckley, a medical statistics researcher who is the executive director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. Moore also said they were tainted because former Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson is the independent chairman for the center.
"Paul Keckley is one of the most forthright and capable researchers in America today. His background is second to none and his research methods are impeccable. For Michael Moore to tear down research conducted by this man is shameful," said Thompson.
Paul Keckley previously served as a Senior Fellow in the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health where he conducted research on market trends in the healthcare industry with a special interest in healthcare consumerism, medical informatics, and evidence-based medicine. He received a BA from Lipscomb University and his MA and PhD from Ohio State University. Dr. Keckley is the author of two books The Handbook of Healthcare Market Research and 99 Questions You Should Ask Your Doctor and Why and numerous articles in professional journals. He has been the keynote speaker at major industry meetings including the AMA House of Delegates, National Quality Forum, The Medical group Management Association and American Association of Health Plans and has been featured in ABC's 20/20, CBS 60 Minutes, The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times. Thompson's campaign has put health care reform at the front of its campaign, calling for the eradication of breast cancer by 2015.
"Actually, I thank Michael Moore for bringing health care to the forefront. Having said that, I would gladly debate him on the merits of turning our health care system over to an impersonal federal government. My plan for health care addresses the issues that Michael Moore is concerned about without destroying the delivery system," said Thompson.

I would love to see Tommy Thompson debate Michael Moore on Health Care, I know that is one thing Tommy is passionate about. I wonder if Moore is going to take him up on that? Ha.
From what I understand Moore got a face to face chewing from Dr. Sanjay Gupta (CNNs medical correspondent) too...would love to see that too...the idiot Moore hobblng away like a hurt puppy. Gotta love it!
Yup, that pretty much explains Michael Moore.
Welcome to the Official Tommy Thompson ping list! -- The ONLY candidate for President elected statewide in a swing state as a proven conservative!
Please Freepmail me if you want ON or OFF this list. Remember, despite what some freepers may think, Tommy Thompson is the ONLY Thompson out there actually RUNNING for President.

Tommy Thompson: The Reliable Conservative
Sanjay Gupta is a flaming liberal. Why is Moore attacking people who desperately WANT to be on his side?

TT is a nanny-stater who is all for the government telling you what you can or can not ingest.
Conservatives do not support regressive taxation and usurption of private property rights.
But thanks for the BTTP.
And he's further right than even Duncan Hunter on his commitment to having NO new taxes. :-p
Oh and Tommy has pledged to sign the FairTax into law the second it reached his deck, I suppose you consider that “regressive”
He supports smoking bans, and higher cigarette taxes. those issues smack of nanny-statism, disregard of property rights, and bigger government control of our lives. None of those things are conservative principals.
I suppose it would be a major issue -- for lifelong cigarette smokers. I'm a non-smoker so it doesn't effect me.
How many of the "true conservatives", like former Congressman Bob Schafer, support "21 and up" drinking laws? I drank responsibly when I was under 21, so that one effected me, but you never see ANYONE question their "conservative credentials" for passing THAT "nanny state" law.
Do I detect a double standard among freepers here?
NOPE. I do not support the 21 drinking age, never have and never will, and I was long over the age of 21 when that was passed.....or rather forced on every state to save their federal transportation revenues.
I do notice, however you excerpted my comment in regard to private property rights. Anyone who supports a government mandated smoking ban in a private business does not respect private property rights.
The border, private property rights, and the 2nd Amendment are my issues for the '08 Presidential race and I currently don't have a candidate. I know who I have a reounding NO for, but I don't have a resounding YES for anyone at this time.
I just like his views on Healthcare and would love to see him and Moore in a debate.
Maybe you better offer your definition of "regressive" before you go speaking for "conservatives".
Regressive taxation is taxes that have more impact on those in lower income brackets.
Gasoline taxes are the perfect example. An increase in those taxes are going to hit the guy/gal making less than 50grand a year a heck of a lot harder than someone making over 250 grand.
An increase in the tax on booze is going to hit the guy who wants to pick up a 6-pack or even a case of beer who makes 10bucks an hour a heck of a lot harder than the guy drinking martinis who can bill $250 an hour.
Do you wish me to continue, or have you gotten the point?
I get the point. You’re a socialist.
Kindly explain how you have concluded I am a socialist. TT is far more of a socialist that I have ever been or could ever possibly be.
