Twilight Zone Filibusters (New York Times Slams GOP for Killing Surrender Now Bill Alert)

The nations anguish over the Iraq war was kept on hold in the Senate yesterday as the Republican minority maintained serial threats of filibuster to buy time for President Bushs aimless policies. Last week, the House debated and voted along party lines for a timetable for an American troop withdrawal by next spring. But a similar measure was allowed no such decisive expression in the Senate. Instead, the G.O.P. insisted on the approval of a supermajority of 60 of 100 senators before putting to a vote a measure that would apply real pressure on the president to shift his disastrous course in Iraq.
Republicans have the right to filibuster under centuries-old rules that this page has long defended. It is the height of hypocrisy for this band of Republicans to use that power since only about two years ago they were ready to unilaterally ban filibusters to push through some of Mr. Bushs most ideologically blinkered judicial nominees.

“Bush Lied! People Died!”
“Bush Knew!”
“No Blood For Oil!”
And here the Rats claim that “Cut and Run” is a bumper sticker slogan politicizing the war.

In a few years the bankrupt NYT is going to be bought up by an Australian-Japanese consortium and will be running UFO abduction stories on its front page. (I can hardly wait.)

The nations anguish over the Iraq war How would The New York Times, in its Midtown ivory tower, have any idea what "the nation" thinks?

In postponing real action to September and beyond, Republicans laughed off the all-night debate as a slumber party of twilight zone theatrics by the Democrats.LOL! This is rich coming from the Slimes, they're in that "twilight zone" with the dems.

Yep... and the liberal morons at the NYT ought to know if the nation REALLY was fed up, Dingy Harry wouldn't have had to hold a slumber party, now would he? They don't have a clue to what you or I think!

Yeah, really. Our Newspaper Of Record has to defend the Dems incompetence and stupidity. They may swallow that in the Manhattan salons but not in the rest of America. The NYT doesn't speak for the entire country.

Because an Iraqi stringer, formerly employed by Saddam to spy on western journalists, and currently employed by al Qeada, told them so.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between the rantings of Al-Zawahiri and the NY Times editorial board.

This is an old statement, but still apropros to today with the NYT: "The New York Times is SO 9/10/2001! I'm sure none of us are surprised that the old gray lady stands behind the democratics and their little slumber party stunt 100%.

The rules have not changed and guess who’s in charge of the House and Senate, with real, dumb leadership??? And may I add, with an approval rating below 14 percent, matching their IQ’s.

“But Mr. McConnell should keep in mind that voters can tell the difference between principled resistance and political showmanship. The Democrats former minority leader, Tom Daschle of South Dakota, lost his seat three years ago when he was roundly attacked by the opposition for running a partisan, obstructionist minority.”
Kinda odd...
In warning McConnell that the perceptive voters see him as a political showman, they use the example of Tom Daschle who, presumably, NYT believes was seen correctly by the voters as partisan and obstructionist and thus lost his seat.
But then they defend him against that scurrilous accusation by seeming to say he lost his seat because he was “swift-boated” by the opposition and the voters believed it.

The NYT libs want to have it both ways. They're aren't a non-partisan newspaper. They're a DNC rag. You can basically guess the day's editorials before you open to the op-ed page. They have as much diversity on their op-ed page as the old Soviet
Pravda. "Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

the editorial pages of the slimes are moderately conservative compared to the left wing socialist bias of page one. it makes old pravda look like the national review.

The Dems can’t afford for America to win. America must be in a constant state of crisis. This way the nanny state can step in and save the day. They have to keep us codependent to keep power.
