It's happening at 41st Street between Third and Lexington Avenues.
We are told the fire department is requesting that 41st through 47th streets to be closed off between Lexington and Third.
Officials say that buildings in the area are being evacuated, though subway service is not affected.

(My Favorite Liberal) Mrs. Gridlock works in this building, at 41 and Lex. She said she saw building debris moving past her window, and she’s on the 19th floor. She got the heck out and said there was debris in the street.
She’s over on 2nd Avenue now, and says nobody has a clue what is going on. I’m reading the FR thread to her, and she’s telling people over on 2nd what is going on. So get it right, people!
