The July 15th FEC reports for presidential candidates are avilable. Below are the results for all declared candidates. Fred Thompson is not included, since he has not yet filed as a candidate with FEC.
McCain is not quite as dead as many have made him out to be; some reports said he was down to about a quarter million dollars. But he IS dead... Romney is running on his own money, it seems... Kucinich is absolutely bankrupt... Romney has bought his standing in New Hampshire and Iowa by spending $34 million;... Nader doesn't look like he's preparing for another run (nor does Buchanan)... The only Republican with money is Rudy Giuliani, and he's not raising it all that quickly... Ron Paul is in 3rd place among Republicans' Cash on Hand minus debt...

Gilmore is gone... It's time for McCain, Brownback, Huckabee and Thompson to quit. And Hunter and Tancredo should negotiate for one of them to quit.
Someone needs to tell Romney the election is not for another 6 months.
Somehow I managed to put Gilmore among the Democrats, instead of the Republicans. My bad. Including was deliberate, in spite of his withdrawal.
>> When did Ralph Nader announce he was running? <<
He didn’t; I wrote that he doesn’t appear to be. He’s probably just trying to retire old debts.
Oh, I missed it. Thanks
It sure looks like the Republican nomination is Giuliani v Thompson, and the Democratic nomination is Clinton v Obama... although Richardson, Edwards, and maybe Dodd might snag some delegates.
So much for money dominating politics.
The top Republican candidates in the polls are, in order, Thompson, Giuliani, McCain, Romney. And the top in spending, are, in order, Romney, McCain, Giuliani, Thompson.
Popularity results in fundraising success, more than fundraising success buys popularity.
Yeah, I have. Last time I checked, January comes 6 months after July. Does your calender say something different?
Romney spent $32 mil? What is he thinking?
And isn't that 6 months? Oh sorry, 5.7523421 months. I will try to be more percise.
He's thinking it is one way of competing with internationally known figures like Giuliani, McCain and Clinton thereby going from an unknown, second-tier candidate to a better known, top-tier, leading candidate in the early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire -- unlike the other unknown second-tier candidates, who have not raised or spent much and have stayed virtually unknown and second-tier.
