Excerpt -

MIAMI, United States (AFP) - US prosecutors on Tuesday filed a request to have former Panamanian strongman Manuel Noriega extradited to France when he is released in September from a Miami prison where he is serving a drug trafficking sentence.

Noriega was captured during the US invasion of Panama in 1989 and taken to the United States. That same year a French court sentenced him in absentia to 10 years in jail for money laundering.

His Miami lawyer said he would vigorously fight the extradition request.

For the next ten years he is going to be thinking it was a really bad move on his part to kidnap that U.S. Navy lieutenant and his wife, who was then sexually assaulted.

Back then we had the gonads to get rid of pests. We should have done this to Hugo Chavez years ago Instead we do nothing as he allies himself with Iran, Russia, China and sabotages Nicaraguan elections

"He is also wanted in Panama, where he was convicted in absentia and sentenced to 40 years in prison for his role in the disappearance and murder of opposition members."

Send him to Panama where he is wanted for murder and 40 years. The Frogs only want to give him 10.

What do the Panamanians have to say about him going to France? Will France give him to Panama after 10 years?

So where do we go to for that sort of thing these days? China, yes? They pretty much run things down there now.

I’d argue that it’s best to send him to a nation where political considerations are less likely to affect the outcome of the case, but . . . .

1/LT Robert Paz

“On the night of 16 December 1989 two events took place which set in motion the operation now known as JUST CAUSE. First, a Marine assigned to U.S. Southern Command, 1/LT Robert Paz, was shot by PDF troops when the private vehicle he was riding in drove through a PDF check point. He died of his wounds that night. Second, a U.S. Navy officer and his wife were detained at the same check point where LT Paz was killed. They were taken to a PDF headquarters and beaten and physically abused during interrogation. When these events became public the Bush administration decided to execute the contingency plan that had been developed and refined since the failed 3 October coup.”

One of 1/LT Robert Paz’s companions who was in the same car drove him to Gorgas Hospital in the Canal Zone which was a few hundred yards away where he had been shot. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive.

Unfortunately, the Panamanian Government does not put anybody in jail once they reach 70 years of age. Therefore, he will be out and about free.
