Recently, FBI Director Robert Mueller, in an interview with NewsMax, confirmed Williams' main claim. Mueller said al-Qaida's paramount goal is clear: to detonate a nuclear device that would kill hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Mueller told NewsMax that at times, the threat feels so real he lies awake at night thinking about the prospect.

Williams maintains that al-Qaida is not content on blowing up one nuclear device or even simply a "dirty" nuke — but wants to explode real nuclear devices in seven U.S. cities simultaneously.

When I was in grammar school we had air raid drills. Duck and cover was just being introduced when I graduated high school. It was clear from the B-52s circling overhead ready to break out north that there was serious trouble, but at the time nobody but experts had a clear idea what nukes could do aside from some descriptions of Hiroshima. Our little town of 10,000 was supposed to put up the million evacuees from the nearby city in our spare bedrooms. Really, nobody had a clue.

That depends on just where you are when the bomb goes off. If you are inside the 12 psi zone or inside the fireball, sure, you are a goner no matter what you do.

But if you are far enough away, duck n cover will protect you from flying glass and other flying stuff. A 10 meg nuke will break your windows from at least ten miles away, but there will be several seconds between the flash and the bang. if you see the flash and run to the window, you get shredded by glass shrapnel. If you see the flash and cover up, you will at least survive that effect.

There are weapons evvects calculators on line. For most of them, if you are in the yellow zone or “moderate damage zone” ducking can save you. The USA stopped teaching nuke survival in 1963- 64.

Depending on windspeed on the day in particular, and the size of the bomb. But, a fairly conservative estimate for a sizable bomb (1 megaton or so, ground-burst [the dirtiest]) is 500 miles downwind. Now that’s not saying that you won’t get any radioactive fallout, but it won’t reach lethal levels.

In all seriousness, such an attack would kill MILLIONS of good, innocent Patriotic Americans, and turn our economy back 100 years.

In retaliation, I’d say nuke Medina, Mecca, Jeddah, Riyadh, Tehran, Baghdad, Amman, Dubai, Mogadishu, and throw in Pyongyang, Beijing, Havana, and Moscow for good measure.

If we got nuked we would probably respond with a peace vigil, considering the leaders we currently have.

I tend to agree with you. I still remember the almost unanimous reaction to 9/11... I think almost every able bodied American wanted revenge. I think our Government and loonie lefties are spineless and idiotic, but not red-blooded Americans.
