Tancredo Raises $1.47M In Second Quarter
CBS 4 Denver ^ | Jul 16, 2007 | AP

(AP) DENVER Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., raised nearly $1.47 million for his presidential campaign in the second quarter of the year, according to campaign finance reports filed Sunday.

The total left him well behind fundraising totals for leading candidates among both Democrats and Republicans in the race, though Tancredo's campaign also reported little debt.

He had $598,451 in cash on hand, and his campaign committee had $15,0000 in debts and obligations owed, according to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission.

The amount raised topped the $1.3 million Tancredo raised in the first three months of the year.

Tancredo's money, at least in the first quarter, came largely from small donors - $60 to $150. I think the total was something like 76 percent from small donors.

He doesn't have the support of the Party or the support of the Party's money, but he does get support from the people who hear him.

At the GOP of Iowa Lincoln Day Dinner:
“America is the last best hope of western civilization.

“Everything we are, everything we have achieved in this nation is under attack - from Jihadism abroad to multiculturalism here at home.

“Our leaders charged with the responsibility of defending our land, our culture and our sovereignty refuse to do their jobs. Every generation of Americans must face its test - a test passed at Valley Forge, at Gettysburg, on the Normady beaches, and on Flight 93. Whenever Americans see their country threatened or their flag falling, they act. This is their country; the country they built, that they fought and bled and died for.

“Will our generation muster the will and the courage to do the same?

“That is why I'm running for president. Because we are threatened; because we need a leader; because we cannot afford to fail.

“This is our culture; fight for it. This is our flag; pick it up. This is our country; take it back.”
-Tom Tancredo

So is it $15,000, or $150,000?

I’m thinking it must be $150,000 ... $15,000 seems a little light for all the travel he’s been doing.

Last I heard, it was really VOTES that count in the end. Not $.
Howsabout Thompson/Tancredo?

Howsabout Thompson/Tancredo?

Fred Thompson's positions don't square with Tom Tancredo's, and vice versa, I think. I would be very surprised if Thompson would be interested in having Tancredo anywhere near his administration.

Tancredo is an embarassment, partly funded by pro-eugenics zero population growth liberals. I thought the guy had principles but I guess not.

He should drop out and endorse Duncan Hunter, the immigration reform candidate who actually has a full platform and a presidential resume.

Tancredo has a full platform and didn't vote in favor of No Child Left Behind, McCain-Feingold or Bush's prescription drug plan. Which side of those issues did Duncan Hunter fall on?

Tancredo is an embarassment, partly funded by pro-eugenics zero population growth liberals.

Your tactics are an embarrassment and give Duncan Hunter a bad name. For his sake, you should stop.

I thought the guy had principles but I guess not.

Your attack on Tancredo in Duncan Hunter's name is in bad taste. I like Hunter and agree with most of his supporters on FreeRepublic, but if you think this kind of garbage is helping Hunter you're way off base.

I do not bash Hunter because I think he's the second best candidate running, but you opened the door so I'll close it:

Hunter's voting record doesn't hold up well to scrutiny from people who are truly interested in reducing the size and scope of the federal government. Tancredo, on the other hand, has a stellar voting record across the board - including pro-life. If people agree with him on the illegal immigration issue and donate to his campaign, that's not a problem. People donate based on what a candidate's positions are, not vice versa. This attack launched by Brownback over one donor to Tancredo's campaign hit like a poorly aimed dud, yet here you are, in Duncan Hunter's name, launching it again.

I don't give a flying Dutchman whether a Tancredo-bot switches to Duncan Hunter; you'd probably write Tancredo in even if he dropped out. The fact is Hunter has an actual campaign and Tancredo has one issue for which he's managed to compromise his other principles to ally himself with the radical ZPG pro-abortion left. (The people who support that kind of thing will never support Hunter anyway.)

There is no point to Tancredo's campaign.

There is no point to Tancredo's campaign.

I'll say it again:

There is no point to Tancredo's campaign.

The sooner he drops out the sooner he stops embarassing himself and taking attention away from serious candidates.

This is an out-and-out smear and lie and I'm discouraged to see FReepers resorting to this tactic.

I thought the guy had principles but I guess not.

His voting record is far superior to that of Hunter's (conservative down the line) and he is not afraid to call a spade a spade.

Tancredo has no chance of being on ANY ticket in 2008.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Tancredo's my #2 guy behind Hunter and should Hunter leave the race would get my support and $. Both men love America and put its interests above all others...which is much more than you can say for some of the frontrunners.

It is an admitted fact.

I've been warning immigration reform advocates about the ties the fringe has to pro-abortion, pro-eugenics, pro-UN Population Fund pro-ZPG leftist elements.

Those people are the antithesis of conservatism and it is shameful that Tancredo does not denounce them.

That fringe/radical/lib/envirowacko alliance is one of the main things that has held back the movement to end illegal immigration.

I'll also point out that I supported Tancredo running in the past to keep immigration up on the front burner -- you can hunt around old TT threads if you doubt me -- but I maintain now that his candidacy is redundant, useless, and his recent failure to denounce his radical left/racist support is shameful behavior.

You people need to take a closer look at your bedfellows and think about the principles they espouse and whether you really want to keep that kind of company.

Either you, or Tancredo is a liar and I believe it is you. Tancredo’s record is decidedly pro-life. Why are you doing this? You are hurting Hunter.

Either you, or Tancredo is a liar and I believe it is you.

As I said, Tancredo admitted it, he's fine with it, and that's the thing that I find most shameful.

Are you calling me AND Tom Tancredo liars? Also the facts, are you calling the facts liars?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1863623/posts

You are of course free to agree with Tancredo that there's nothing wrong, but don't call me a liar.

“Tancredo has one issue for which he’s managed to compromise his other principles to ally himself with the radical ZPG pro-abortion left. (The people who support that kind of thing will never support Hunter anyway.)”

Flat out lie.

One prominent pro-abortion person gave him money... because he supports Tancredo on the immigration issue.

That’s it.

Tanc kept the money - as he should. His voting record is stellar across the board.

I like them both. I sent Tancredo’s PAC money, and Hunter’s campaign money.

Hunter sponsored the “Parents’ Empowerment Act” which is anti-liberty and totally dumb. I like the guy anyway.

Your post is twisted and lying. I suggest you put up or shut up!
