Vaesteraas, Sweden - Thousands of mint-condition Chevrolets, Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles from the 1950's boulevard-cruise with Brylcreemed greasers draped over the steering wheel and rock 'n roll hits blaring on their radios.
You might think you've been transported back a half-century to small-town America but, no, this is a scene found in any number of towns across Sweden where the early days of the US car culture never went out of style.

I’ve heard there are also alot of harley-davidsons in sweden.
“Ive heard there are also alot of harley-davidsons in sweden.”
- Yes, there are. However, I don’t know how the numbers compare to those of other countries. In any case, the ones you find here, whether they are old or brand new, are often in very good condition.
“Japanese cars have motors designed to outlive the car. This makes the car throw away.
American cars have a design in which the car will outlive the motor. This makes them repairable. Sometimes infinitely repairable.”
- Well said.
Sweet.
Excellent!
That Plymouth Superbird would be nice to have. Probably some dumsnut owns it.
I sold a 1965 Pontiac Catalina Station Wagon to a guy in Sweden in 1995. It was 30 yrs old and had 444,000+ miles on it. It ran like a watch. Shipped in a container on a place with another hot rod. The guy was estacic to get it. I got $600. Now I wish I had the car back. It got about 18pg, and ran great.
There was a ‘50s weekend here, I met up with someone in a Fairlane, I can’t believe he may have said 16,000 cars were going to be there but even if he said 1,600 that’d be enough to be among the tops.
But I sure take my hat off to this show in Sweden; Excellent.
I was busy that whole weekend and the show was a bit far to drive to, it did not fit in my plans but I heard it was good.
actually my mechanic owns two that have been done ‘back to the future style’. I have one that is stock original from the manufacturer
Awesome! :-)
“I doubt the author if this piece has been to Fuddruckers in Lake Forest on a Tuesday night, nor the auto swap meet once a month in Pomona.”
- Basic rule is never trust a journalist.
Sometimes, we Swedes get cocky and overconfident, but believe me, we mean no harm.
All Swedes are not Swedish PC politicians or MSM agents who constantly let civilization down.
Most of us are like most of you in fact.
Skål!

- That’s somethin’ special, Fellow FReeper.
- Hey, that’s even more beautiful to a Swede than you might think! :-) :-)
Thanks for posting.
I agree Pakistan in general is a severe problem (but also a nation in which many people long for the kind of progress India is making)
People who believe in freedom must not let other people who do so down.
Please feel free to contact me, Fellow FReeper.
