The backyard grill: American tradition or potential crime scene?

Canonsburg Mayor Anthony Colaizzo issued an executive order this week banning the use of grills -- propane, charcoal and wood -- after 8 p.m. in this town of 8,825 known for its grandiose Fourth of July parades.

I can add this town to the list of coomunist havens I will never live.

Banning Grilling??????? There is nothing I love more on a summer evening than the smell of searing animal flesh wafting through the air.

In fact, I would have no problem with the citizens meeting wih the electred sheriff of the county and instructing him to arrest this mayor for gross misfeasance.

That's what SHOULD be done, everywhere this kind of crap happens, but so few people have the balls, the time, the money, whatever the excuse, to do such a thing.

EO = Executive Order, or in this case aka the whims of a nanny-state tyrant.

I just googled the good Mayor’s name. He donates to Dem candiates and seems hell bent to be a politician for the rest of his life.

The nice thing about this EO is he just handed any hope of re-election to his opponent.

“But to write an EO telling citizens what activities they may engage in are way out of the mayor’s legal influence.”

I think he must have been inspired by a certain ex-President:
‘Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Pretty cool.’

“Lou Marra, 72, who attends every council meeting, said the mayor issued the order Monday night after Canonsburg resident Dave DiTullio complained that a neighbor constantly starts fires next door, sending smoke onto DiTullio’s property.”

Warnings about this have been sent far and wide on FR. However, folks refuse to take the blinders off and have happily celebrated the fascist policies that allowed this to happen.

Thanks for the ping. It looks like this is one nannyism the good citizens can over turn immediately.

If a mayor tried that here in my area he would be recalled and thrown out of office.

if he tried it down south, he'd probably face a firing squad.

“I’d go to the next city council meeting and question the mayor’s legal authority to write law without going through the council”.

I can not believe this mayor has the authority to write a law without the city council’s approval.

I remember a global warming study which specifically chastised INDIA for its "cooking fires" which supposedly were not efficient.

I mean, c'mon, you're going to crack down on cooking fires in INDIA? Please. They had to work hard to pay for the charcoal, I'm sure. They deserve to grill.

PS- Love your tagline.

The difference is in the Utah case it was a law passed by the city. In this case it is an EO.
