Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has told NAACP members that it is particularly important to respect the civil rights of Muslim Americans at a time when U.S. troops continue to fight terrorism in the Middle East.
Making Muslims "feel fully included in the work and spirit of America is part of making America a better country," Chertoff said Tuesday night in an address to the civil rights group's 98th annual convention.
Society has "fought too long and too hard for the rights of African Americans to turn our backs on the rights of Muslim Americans," he said

It's scary that all Chertoff did was say the rights of Moslem Americans should be respected and we have people posting that Chertoff does not have a patriotic bone in his body, etc.

Every time you see “xxxx-Americans”, as in “Muslim-Americans”, or “Brazilian-Americans”, it’s the menace of multiculturalism, the Trojan horse in America, rearing its ugly head.

I never said that he said that. What I said was that Chertoff had said he had a “gut feeling” that al-queda would attack - that’s what he told the Chicago Tribune.
Then Chertoff goes and says this to the NAACP - it makes me wonder if he’s softening up American reaction to innocent Muslims in America and he can’t stop the attack.
He is the head of the DHS.
It's not fundamental Christianity, but ignorance that would cause posts saying Chertoff is a traitor and that we would be better off if all moslems in America vanished.
By their twisted logic we'd also be better off if all men disappeared because there are many more male criminals. Or maybe all clergy because a percentage of them (all faiths) are molestors. Maybe all drivers because some drive drunk. Just sloppy, easy, ugly thinking.

Chertoff publicly talks about every damn thing except SECURITY. 2-3 weeks ago he was babbling about agriculture and immigration, yesterday his “Gut” was acting up and today he’s telling us how to behave.
This guy is out of control and is a reflection of his boss.
I'm a Deist. And I think that Bush and Chertoff and our political leaders have to stop the idiotic blather about Islam being a religion of peace and instead demand that American Muslims make a choice - either confront and renounce the call for violence against nonbelievers that is currently a cornerstone of Islamic doctrine, or leave this country. Because "death to infidels!" is completely incompatible with core American Constitutional values.
