For the first time the leading candidates for the presidency will hold a televised debate devoted solely to LGBT issues.
The one-hour event will be held on August 9 and broadcast on gay network LOGO at 9:00 pm ET (6:00 pm ET) and through live streaming video at LOGOonline.com.
Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards have confirmed they will participate. Several other Democratic candidates also may join the debate.
The debate will be conducted with a live audience in Los Angeles. On the panel questioning the two Democrats will be Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese and singer Melissa Etheridge.
The debate was put together by LOGO and HRC.
"In the 2008 presidential election, issues of concern to the LGBT community have already been at the forefront of the national conversation, said Solmonese.
"From the repeal of Dont ask, Dont Tell to the recent signing of a civil unions bill in New Hampshire, there is no doubt that voters will demand answers to important questions affecting our community."

The Dems seem to work overtime to think of ways to turn off Christians.

This is a fantastic crutch to beat Republicans with.
I can't imagine Conservatives ever having a debate like this.
So....if they do, then they risk alienating their base. If they don't, then the MSM will have a field day about Republicans being "Insensitive to the Needs of Gays".
Devious, and a good political stroke, IMHO.

I think everybody could write the dialogue for that “debate.”
Actually, it would be a good idea to give the gathering nationwide coverage on the national networks.
I’m repelled by gratuitous hugging, so I’ll pass.

I remember I sent an email to Bob Schieffer of CBS News before the Kerry/Bush debate saying I would just like the candidates to be asked whether they believe homosexuality is a choice or a gay gene. I'm sure others did as well and Schieffer asked, "Do you believe homosexuality is a choice?"
Kerry said it's not a choice and made that idiotic reference to Dick Cheney's daughter and Bush chickened out and said he didn't know.

In one way, its a good thing the Dumbocraps are expending their resources on ithues claimed to be relevant to 1 or 2 per cent of the population. On the other hand, debate is unnecessary. Simply stating what every five year old knows should be sufficient, "Don't play with your own or others' poop - its dirty and dangerous stuff."
