Let me just step in here and clear this all up:

DUNCAN HUNTER

For starters he’s ANN’S candidate..pretty d@mned good starter.....

and hes right as rain on all the issues: watch the videos on his website

http://www.gohunter08.com/

the videos show hes right on BORDERS TRADE AND THE WAR ON TERROR...

here’s some of what he says about taxes:

The only way we can come close to leveling that playing field is to eliminate manufacturing taxes. So eliminate all taxes on Americans who will stay in the United States and make products and hire American workers.”

he’s dead right on all 4..

..see what u think.........

Anybody can belong to CFR. Some companies enroll all their employees. You may be a member and not even know it.

Can you tell me where you got this information? This is the first I've heard of this.

No loss? Fred will need everyone of us that jorge bush has alienated in order to win.

His supporters would be wise to remember that.

Oh no, a potential Republican nominee hired... GASP... REPUBLICANS!

Sorry, but its a very small fraternity the professional campaign staffers have, there is going to be some overlap. Indeed it may say something that these "cronies" have left Bush's camp.

“I’m not willing to support laws that prohibit early term abortions,” he told the Conservative Spectator, a Tennessee newspaper, in 1994. “It comes down to whether life begins at conception. I don’t know in my own mind if that is the case so I don’t feel the law ought to impose that standard on other people.”

“The ultimate decision on abortion should be left with the woman and not the government,” he told another newspaper. And in his Christian Coalition questionnaire, he penciled in: “I do not believe abortion should be criminalized. This matter will be won in the hearts and souls of the American people.”

Note that when he explained why he opposes Roe v. Wade on federalism grounds, he ended up saying: “When you get back to the states, I think the states should have some leeway.” “Leeway” obviously is code for “the states should allow some abortions.”

"Leeway." Someone here said the most important issue now is "national security" and I shouldn't worry about nominating a pro abort. Funny, I think abortion is a national security. Guess there's really no disagreement after all.

Hey while we're at it let's allow some LEEWAY for terrorism in some states.

I think I'll keep looking for a non pro abort candidate thanks.

Thompson served 8 years in the Senate, I believe. (http://www.imwithfred.com/About.aspx) Where are you getting 11?

Anybody can belong to CFR.

What I find confusing is that folks here automatically label any member of CFR as a globalist. Perhaps you can help me with this....how can a person be a globalist (one government rule) yet have a track record of a Federalist?

I have a splitting migraine that makes looking at a computer screen pure hell, but I’ll start my rebuttal to this piece with this: <>> Thompson has been an active radio commentator and opinion piece writer even before he started testing the waters. He has worked with conservatives to shepherd through judicial nominees, most notably Chief Justice Roberts, and he’s been a constant back-room presence in fund raising and political strategy sessions. The writer, who seems to be very in touch with conservative media sources, should know all this. In fact, Id venture that the author DOES know all of this and just hopes his readers won’t.

The author certainly had a lot to say............

This sums it up pretty well though.....

“AGAINST impeachment proceedings against President Clinton”

WOW - conservatives seem to want to eat their own now a days. No one is perfect, so let’s bring everyone down, even everyone that is more or less on our side.

I wonder who the author of this piece likes - from thos that are running in this race.

So Cheney’s daughter worked for Reagan too?

I’d have thought she was too young back then.

The Reagan Test: Throughout the 1960s and 70s Ronald Reagan walked with conservatives. He was at our conservative functions, and not just at the head table—he mingled with us, listened to our concerns, and made it clear where he stood. Also, our conservative friends were all around him as he governed in California and then ran for President—people like Dick Allen, Ed Meese, Lyn Nofziger, Marty Anderson, Paul Laxalt, Judge Bill Clark…and the list goes on.

Where are the long-time conservative activists today around Fred Thompson? Not campaign consultants who sell themselves to the highest bidder at campaign auctions. No, dedicated and recognized conservative thinkers and activists who will work only for truly conservative politicians.

Go ahead, try and name one. And if conservatives were not part of his inner circle before he started running for the presidency, we cannot expect him to have conservatives in his inner circle if he gets elected. And in politics, personnel is policy.

Thompson’s conservative leadership score on the Reagan Test: F.

Now THAT is gonna leave a mark.

Richard's been reading my posts. ;-)

Folks need to face facts: Mr. Thompson is a Tennessee moderate. Always has been, always will be. His driving motivation has always been "bipartisanship."
