Thanks for posting this, Dick. And, thanks for the ping, King.
Something to think about. My father was asking me about Fred's positions and until I read this I didn't know his history.
Where, O' Where have all the conservatives gone?

I'm tired of seeing our country being gradually handed to the enemy by corporate whorehouse importers and merchants of the social left. You won't choose my candidate.
I post facts and quotes. Your herd throws the
flames in its bandwagon propaganda approach.

Secondly, like it or not, the idea of Republican Conservatism, from what the vast unwashed public believes, is a major negative right now. I see Fred Thompson as the ONLY candidate/potential candidate who is communicating conservative ideas in a way that is appealing to the masses. Third, out of the entire field, hes by far the most conservative, ELECTABLE guy out there.Couldn't have said it any better myself. I have a serious problem with folks who try to tear down the frontrunner in search of furthering some other agenda. I'd like to know who this author wishes to promote.... instead of Fred?

I thought this guy was kind of a good candidate. The article does raise some questions. But aside from that I have been getting a very bad feeling about this guy playing games with his letting us know if he will run for president. It kind of tells me that he is more into games than commitment.

You’re the only person I know here. What side am I on? I’m honored and flattered that somebody thought enough of me to ping me here.
I was outside staining the deck and then playing catch with my son. I came in here to check if there were any responses to my posts.
What side am I supposed to be on? :-)
I’m on your side. I don’t know what your side is yet, but I’m there. Then again, maybe not. What is this all about?

Fire, Somehow I got pinged into to this as well. I guess it's because this is a FReeper civil war on Thompson, and I've been a pretty vocal opponent. This article just reaffirms what I've been saying for a couple of months. Fred Thompson is a moderate masquerading as a conservative. He's no more conservative than George W. Bush. And it's no coincidence that Bush's people are chomping at the bit to work for Thompson. That said, of the media declared (and propped up) frontrunners, Thompson is perhaps the least bad. Rudy is a lib and makes no bones about it. McCain is all over the map. Romney is a lib masquerading as a conservative. There are three far better choices in the race. Hunter and Tancredo have been wonderful on the borders and national sovereignty. And then there is the much maligned Ron Paul. Can you believe that 19 years after Reagan left office, he is the only Republican presidential candidate who actually is for a smaller government? The Reagan revolution ended on Jan 20, 1989. Our nominees since then, Bush Sr., Dole, and Bush Jr., have all run on Reagan's name, and that's about it. And next year's candidate will probably do the same. However, all of those wonderful hard-working Reagan Democrats have figured out what you broken glass Republicans haven't, and they're gone.

Electability... that does sound familiar. The Democrats picked John Kerry and before long it was obvious he was a terribly flawed candidate. No one is saying Fred Thompson is in the same category but he might not turn out to be the Conservative Dream Candidate. At any rate, it incumbent on any one who wants conservative support to earn it. I haven't been sold on any of the candidates so far.

Thompson doesn’t have a military history.
That can be a plus or a minus but I don’t see Thompson as anti military or national defense.

Membership in the Council on Foreign Relations is an automatic disqualification for me.
Other council members: GHWB, Condi, Robert Pastor (the writer wishing to have an NAU implemented), Michael J. Gerson, President George W. Bush's longtime speechwriter and adviser, Tony Snow, among a host of others.
Thanks for the ping, mhk!

Please be aware — I did not post to the site at all today. I did not make this post at all. Someone has usurped and co-opted my presence on the site.
I don’t appreciate it, and it was not me that has made statements on the site today.
