Secondly, like it or not, the idea of Republican Conservatism, from what the vast unwashed public believes, is a major negative right now. I see Fred Thompson as the ONLY candidate/potential candidate who is communicating conservative ideas in a way that is appealing to the masses. Third, out of the entire field, hes by far the most conservative, ELECTABLE guy out there.Couldn't have said it any better myself. I have a serious problem with folks who try to tear down the frontrunner in search of furthering some other agenda. I'd like to know who this author wishes to promote.... instead of Fred?

Electability... that does sound familiar. The Democrats picked John Kerry and before long it was obvious he was a terribly flawed candidate. No one is saying Fred Thompson is in the same category but he might not turn out to be the Conservative Dream Candidate. At any rate, it incumbent on any one who wants conservative support to earn it. I haven't been sold on any of the candidates so far.

CAVUTO: But Bill Clinton avoided that base, didn’t preach to that base. You can argue that he was trying a different strategy. Who is saying that it can’t either work for his wife or the other Democratic potentials?
LIMBAUGH: Well, no. How do you triangulate the war? Are there centrists and moderates? This is a bugaboo of mine anyway.
I have gotten so tired over the years. Republicans are the ones that anger me the most about this, talking about how we must move to the center. We must get the great unwashed, the undecideds, the moderates.
I say, screw them. I want people that are passionate. Conservatives win when they are conservative, when they campaign as conservative, and then when they govern as that’s when they win. They don’t win by moderating and...

I read earlier that he thinks Newt is going to get in in late fall and sweep the primaries.
I think he must be getting old or is on crack.
