BTW, the only reason I’m posting on this thread is that I’m sick and tired of reading petty posts, by petty women.

Or, maybe you are all really old...

...and ta ta challenged.

Oh c'mon, she's a pretty lady, but she looks a little silly in this juvenile get-up.

And since women have an opinion, like everyone else on FR, it's petty?

What's petty is labeling women 'old' because they disagree with you.

The saying goes:

People with just average intellengence talk about things.

People with slightly above average intelligence talk about themselves.

People of high intelligence talk about ideas.

How does any of your comments have to do with you not understand what the article was about? (It requires a sense of humor) Which is where this all started. Go back to the original post.

Oh, I know you are one of the great minds!

I love this forum, there are great and not so great ideas ideas past back and forth. Based on your not being even able to understand what the article really had to say, I doubt much will come from you. Why don’t you own up that you missed it. Its not the end of the world.

I won’t be voting for Fred not because of his wife but he reminds me too much of Bush and I want someone far different from him. Somebody who will make things happen and is no nonsense. Not that my vote makes any difference anyway. The southern thing bothers me and he is just too tired and old and he looks like he could be those kids great grandpa. It definately looks weird. I don’t have an issue with who people are married to personally, but it could be an issue in his performance as president because he probably has a huge ego and will make decisions based on how he is perceived or whatever makes him look good etc. What is he going to do for women? He probably doesn’t have a very high opinion of women. Also I would like to know if he has a super religious mindset like Bush. That’s going in the wrong direction IMO and there definately needs to be a change in the entire government.

I hope that’s not her wedding dress.

I think they are a wonderful couple. After reading some of the posts in this thread and by women about Fred's wife. All I can say is there sure are a lot of very jealous women at FR. If Fred's wife was ugly and fat they probably would approve of her.

Fred is happy, his wife is happy and they seem to have a good marriage. I think it is great.

Heh, why are people so cranky about fashion comments? Those dreadfully unflattering pleats are just plain evil on most women. An expectant mother would have all the more reason to avoid them like the plague. I initially had the same reaction as you did l.b. about that wedding dress, but the cut is flattering, so maybe it's just the pose or the lighting in that photo. No helping the pleats though. :-)

Petty women? Ah, those would be ones tossing out personal insults about posters' ages or ta-ta sizes.

But, that’s the couple’s decision.

exactly. as is what they decide to wear. Lord knows what sort of field day we might have on FR, critiquing old photos of some of the fashion mavens opining on this thread. i am sure not a single photo of a fashion faux pas could be unearthed from THEIR photo archives. One wonders if Freepers would be so critical of appearance if their computer monitors were two-way and we could get a gander at the ones opining.

I guess you are right, 35 isn’t young like being in the 20’s. With today’s fashion women look younger then they used to, by contrast, Fred looks old for his age and his wife looks young. I just wonder, how many marriages has Fred had? I personally feel uncomfortable with anymore then 2 in a president. In Reagans case it was understandable because his wife left him and he was much younger. He didn’t keep trading women in for a younger model. That is what I was getting at, it’s not family values for men to leave behind families. That’s one reason why I can’t respect Rudy, the other candidate, for that reason, I don’t think he deserves to be president, he doesn’t have enough character, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any, it just means he doesn’t have enough to be President. And really, that’s not an insult, because it takes a very special individual to be qualified.

If Fred wasn’t an actor, his wife might not have ever married him, do you know how much adulation actors get? It’s unreal, people always treat them as if they are Gods, so I could see how someone in that profession could get a real big head. With Ronald Reagan, being an actor was something in his past. He had put that life far behind him, by the time he was elected. Did you ever think that he put that life behind him for a reason? Personally, I think Fred is still too steeped in the life style. He is not like Arnold. I really like Arnold and he communicated to the public that he really felt a callling. Arnold was much more successfull then Fred and Arnold has always had the same wife, and despite the rumors, Arnold still seems like a really good family man, he seems to really love his wife and kids.

Jackie Kennedy remarried a filhty rich foreign man who was several years her senior. GASP!

Jackie Kennedy took heavy prescription drugs in the WH just like John did. Fact.

You know what, people have a right to have an opinion and it doesn’t mean they are fat and ugly if they disagree with you. Personally, Fred’s wife looks like a nice woman, and after hearing that she is in her 30’s it doesn’t seem so odd. This thead has opened up a big discussion. I think it is nice that people can discuss these things ahead of time. It’s a big decision when deciding who to vote for, would you rather people be apathetic and not care? Personally, I think it healthy that people are talking about it, if for nothing else to get it out of their system, before they go to vote.

I just wonder, how many marriages has Fred had?

Do you actually read the threads you post to? Or any threads at all. Fred married his first wife when he was 17 years old (took responsibility for a situation he had helped create if you know what I mean) and the marriage lasted something like 25 years. After their amicable divorce (he didn't leave her for anyone) he was single for something around 15 years during which time in Washington he chased some women and some women chased him (and he said that women that chased him tended to catch him -- a funny line as he delivered it). Then he recently married Jeri Kehn and now has two children with her.

Thank you for answering the question, I won’t appologize for asking any questions that I want. Personally, the fact that he was unmarried and chasing women doesn’t make him sound impressive either, he wants to be President. I don’t buy that lie that it’s ok for people to sleep around with anyone till they get married, that’s a character flaw. No wonder why Gay people throw a fit when we try to tell them their life-style is wrong, what’s the difference between being gay and being promiscuious? They are both equally wrong. I think people need to start becoming more honest. This is why the Republicans are losing their credibility and they are having a tough time holding their base, when you sell out, that’s why happens. And don’t tell me promiscuity is someone’s private business, you can go take a hike!

Do you buy into the notion that because someone dated several women while he was single then he must also have been sleepign with all of them?

Who said he was promiscuous? He acknowledges that he dated a variety of women while he was single. Is that promiscuity? The women whom he dated that have commented on him all say he is a gentleman, that they respect him, and that they think he will make a great president.

You figure it out, you are going to seriously tell me that! In reality, we all know why men don't bother to get married, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Why do you think the standards are being lowered? After all, Rush always liked to talk about how the bar is being lowered. Why do you think people used to get married and stay married? Why do you think people aren't bothering to get married anymore? Is it because they decided to stay celibate? Very few do, and they aren't the norm. If people aren't married, then they are getting it someplace, because most people can't make that dedication, which is why marriage was invented in the first place.

You obviously aren’t from California.
Arnold is a HORRID governor, in the same liberal mold as Romney.

The only reason YOU could possibly like Arnold is because he was an actor!

Fred Thompson is favored amongst California conservatives, including Tom McClintock.
Fred and his wife are intelligent CONSERVATIVES ~ that’s why these petty hit pieces.
Liberals are scared to death of them.

When I wasn't married it was because I had not yet met the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. That didn't mean that I was "getting it" from the women that I dated while I was looking. Just because you and/or the men you dated before marriage were apparently unable to remain celibate outside of marriage doesn't mean that everyone else lives by the same lower standards.
