As it is not a sexual scandal they probably will not though they may take jibes at him if they see him being hypocritical

Spector tells Woffie, that this is a decision, regarding support for the war, is one that should not be made on a sunday talk show.

Specter surprised on another topic too, Iran - repeatedly quoting Lieberman. Looks like Specter believes he is going to get his chairmanship back via Lieberman.

Leahy thinks that the President has a constitutional power to commute, pardon, etc. Leahy thinks Bush didn’t show any constitutional responsibililty however, with the commutation. Leahy says that because Scooter only got a commutation, he can plead the fifth if Libby is called to testify anywhere. Says this commutation is blatant example of an effort to buy Libby’s silence. Schumer wants to call Fitzy to testify??? Puke.

Spector thinks Schumer is right and we should have Fitzy brought up in front of the committee. Spector doesn’t understand what the case was about — there WAS NO UNDERLYING CRIME (shocker from Spector). A lot of money was spent by Fitzy and why did they pursue the matter when there was no underlying crime; why did he pursue it after Fitzy knew Armitage was the leaker.

If Fitzy comes before the committee that would be very interesting...I doubt it will happen. Leahy admits he has similar questions: why did Fitzy spend all that money and investigate when there was no crime in the first place.

Yup. Happens every year about this time. We call it “Summertime”. By Fall it will pick up again, and be going full blast come Winter and the early (front loaded) primaries for ‘08.

For sure, it will die back down again as we face a wider gap between having enough votes from the primaries and the conventions. The ebb and flow of dedicated FReeperhood!

I’m sure it will pick up, but I thought the blame is on the liberal media. Everybody knows MTP is bash Republicans every week by fat ass Russert and Steph is carrying Hillary’s water — so why watch?

Contrary to Politically Corrupt Media’s overly emotional, ignorant hand wringing, our Founders never assumed the Jury or a Court to be the end all, be all, arbitrators of Justice. That why they set up a Constitutional Republic with a carefully thought out systems of checks and balances instead of a Direct Democracy subject to the emotion based whimsy’s of patisan political whores like George Steffynopolus.

This rigged jury is EXACTLY why the Presidential Pardon powers were put into the US Constitution. The Founders realized that Justice can be perverted by a Jury or a Judge. Thus they gave the President the power to over rule the verdict of a court. A completely appropriate use of the Presidential powers.

The Founders would of applauded this President for his wise use of the power. Unlike the former President who dished out pardons to big dollar campaign contributors, sexual partners and their hangers ons, this President, after several months of careful consideration of the facts, used it to thwart a transparently partisan political persecution.

That's a good question, but the Driveby Media has always been about bashing Republicans/Conservatives and promoting Leftists. I started posting this thread back in the Clinton days. It has ever been this way. In fact, there was more Clinonistas then. James Carville, Lanny Davis, Paul Begela, Robert Reich, John Podesta, Donna Shillalah, Janet Reno, Madeline Albright, etc, etc, ad nauseum; were standard fare for the Sunday shows.

They still suck; don't get me wrong. Timmie Russert lost his fairness a very long time ago, and George Stephanopolis getting the gig in the first place should have shocked and angered people. Maybe regular folks are beginning to see the light, but I doubt it.

Anyway, we FReepers need a place to discuss it, lest we'll be replacing TV sets too often.

Thanks, as always for the Media Nuggets.

I especially enjoyed that the WH Press did not get invited to the WH fireworks this year and hope W does not entertain them in Crawford this year either.

PRESS NOT INVITED TO FIREWORKS, HEE HEE

"Reporters are divided on the issue. “People are very upset because this is not about the media — its about our families,” one White House reporter said. “The kids get very excited about getting to go.” But another reporter said it wasn’t a big deal. “We’ll survive,” the reporter said.

Note to the Politically Corrupt Media.

The US Govt is NOT run by the US Seante. So while you get all breathless about the Senate RINOS Cutting and Running, you might want to consider the vote totals in the US House. EVEN if the Democrats manage to buy enough votes in the US House to pass their stupid grandstanding on Iraq, they do NOT have anywhere near enough votes for to override a Presidential veto.

So our Do Nothing Congress, in addition to wasting the 1st 6 months of the year posturing on Iraq, NOW plan to spend several additional months wasting their time on the same stupid PR trick.

Maybe the Politically Corrupt Media MAY want to consider that the reason Congress’s approval rating dropped some 35 points in those same 5 months is the American Voters are NOT at all intrested in the Democrat’s desperation to Surrender Iraq Now.

What about a financial scandal, conflict of interest - that sort of stuff?

This thread seems to get fewer and fewer posts every week. Less than 150 by 11:30am.

Should of been here during the Immigration wars. Got pleanty of posts then. But the real reason probably has to do with the Great Purge. Most of the thinking Freepers left for other Web places. The other thing is Summer tends to be both the slow time in politics and on this thread. Most people are smart enough to be ouside enjoying Summer while they can instead of hanging out here. Only the hard core remain for the next few months.

“We’re told that a month is a long time in politics and yet these elites feel completely confident in making predictions on elections years in advance.”

~~~~~~
And predicting the outcome/success/failure of the military efforts in Iraq before it’s even fully implemented, pressuring Gen. Petraeus and our brave troops in their most dangerous and delicate stage. It’s unFReepingbelievable!
My heart breaks for our brave soldiers .. sweating, suffering, bleeding, giving everything they’ve got every damn day .. and they have to hear this junk and go into constant danger with that sickening disunity in their heads from their United States Senate Majority Weenie .. and their spineless, emasculated Pubbie counterparts:
“Sensing momentum from the new Republican defections, Mr. Reid and other leading Democrats intend to force a series of votes over the next two weeks on proposals to withdraw troops and limit spending. Democrats are increasingly confident they can assemble majority opposition to administration policies.”
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/08/washington/08reid.html?ref=politics
God bless and protect our incredible military .. may they know how many Americans truly support and pray for them!
~~~~~~

While I’m at it, the appalling lack of coverage on all the positive work and many many major improvements being facilitated for Iraqis and Afghanis by our military is clearly evident here in pictures.

Just look at the scope of what’s our military has done and is doing to make a difference in Iraq and Afghanistan under risk of death 24/7 ...and that’s obviously being concealed by the Lamestreams and sadly not showcased by *anyone.* Look at these pictures. Amazing!

~~~~~
As for Voinivich, Lugar, Dimenici et al .. sorry, I truly believe it’s hormone depletion = it’s a natural biological occurrence of aging. Term limits is the ONLY answer to their pathetic representation and other congressional spinelessness.
great nuggets, anita
I’ve cross posted it to my blog like last week.
I saw a bit of the press conference referenced in “White House Press Corpse” nugget. Truly astounding. They are so divorced from reality and feverishly partisan that it’s disgusting.
I think I’m going to start taking a serious look at the transcripts of the White House press briefings and searching out the most outrageous example of bias. If I get my act together I’ll post an award on the thread here and on my blog.  Maybe we can have a top ten list then vote on each weeks "winner?"
Depends if they think that it will sell papers no doubt though there will be jibes on TV interviews in particular BBC’s Newsnight.
There was some talk about Domenici being under investigation for ethical lapses, and that he was being blackmailed into taking this position. As for Lugar, perhaps he is auditioning for a position in a Democrat administration, as the token Republican?
