An interesting bruhaha developed over the July 4th holiday when Cal Thomas, well known syndicated columnist and author, chose to speak out on WTOP FM Radio ...

Here is the relevant portion of what Cal Thomas said: "How much longer should we allow people from certain lands, with certain beliefs to come to Britain and America and build their mosques, teach hate, and plot to kill us?" Thomas asked. "Okay, let’s have the required disclaimer: Not all Muslims from the Middle East and southeast Asia want to kill us, but those who do blend in with those who don't. Would anyone tolerate a slow-spreading cancer because it wasn't fast-spreading? Probably not. You'd want it removed."

I heard Cal say there will be no apology coming. Someone who has some guts. Definitely not a politician.

What worries me is that people say Islam needs a “reformation”.

The whole premise of a reformation is a return to the old ways. Martin Luther did not have a new idea. What he believed was that something had been tragically lost in Christianity, let us recapture it.

The current outbreaks of violence and intolerance is Islam’s reformation. They also feel that something has been tragically lost, and they are recapturing it.

Good point. In fact, there really cannot be the type of reform in Islam that non-Muslims would wish for.

Would CAIR support true freedom of religion in muslim lands? If the ROP was all that it was cracked up to be, they would not fear tolerance, not kill muslim converts to Christianity, would not react with violence, would not want to kill us all.

I went to the CAIR website in order to send an email in support of Cal and stumbled across an online petition they had set up for Muslims to renounce terrorism entitled “Not in the Name of Islam”.

It has been available for Muslims to sign up since May 2004.

Now we all know the power of the internet, don’t we?

Guess how many Muslims have signed up in 38 months?

A massive total of ........................107

... and some of those are detractors..

Kind of re-inforces Cal’s comments , doesn’t it?

Thanks for the reference. I read through quite a bit of it last night. I was amazed how he viewed the reformation. I swear I did not read his work before I posted.

P.S. He is 100% correct about the Crusades. They were a belated counteroffensive against Jihad.
