London - An estimated two billion people worldwide have watched the Live Earth concerts on the television. The shows designed to highlight climate change were organised in Australia, Asia, Europe, South Africa and the United States. Dozens of stars such as Crowded House, Madonna and The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed in cities which included Sydney, New York and London.

The global series of concerts kicked off in Sydney Australia where the show started with a traditional welcome dance by members of the Aboriginal community. Live Earth is the brainchild of former US presidential candidate Al Gore. He opened the event in Washington, and spoke to the public in Tokyo via satellite, saying it was high time to heal the planet. Live Earth is ending with a concert in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday evening.

So it will be a damn shame when it’s found that no more people care about global warming now than existed before?

i got frost on the windows, 3 dozen white rhino steaks in my zero degree refrigerator. a grand piano full of ivory elephant tusks....and i just sent my 2 teen age kids down to the AMAZON BASIN to burn down the rain forest AND exterminate its wildlife..

Damn - you're tough. Tell you what - let's jump in my diesel powered airliner, fly up to Canada and beat up some baby seals. That's what my wife and I are going to do for our anniversary.

When the true numbers are revealed, they will be revealed by the new media, not the DNC owned NYT et al..

Isn’t that how they handle the numbers behind “global warming”?

How do they know 2 billion people watched it?

They rode huge Humvees up and down the street and released a cow fart for each person who said they saw it.

Then they measured the global temperature.

Yep, the comedy on this board today has had me rolling all day. Turn off the Live Earth concert you are watching and join the fun..

Actually I AM posting here.... while I'm burning more the 600 MEGs of my Vegas photos to CDs... and Live Earth is on in the background at.
And I'm watching it on Telemundo so I'm brushing up my Spanish at the same time.

I tell you how they figured out 2 billion watched it. They asked 6 people at random in the US if they have watched it. They got 2 people who said yes. Extrapolate that to 6 billion world wide population. Bingo 2 billion people have watched it.

I own a company with 465 factories, worldwide, that produce nothing but pollution. Smokestacks churn out noxious sulphurous fumes, big pipes pour carcinogins into pristine lakes, and rickety trucks loaded with leaky barrels haul nuclear waste to local playgrounds.

Hey, it's a business.

I am conserving energy by not watching, Same as I do when Nebraska uses it electric chair. I turn off my T.V. and figure those nice boys down at the Big House might need the extra juice.

The only way I would believe that 2 billion people watched this is if everyone in China and India tuned in so they could get a good laugh at western liberal nonsense!

In 1969 when Apollo 11 landed on the Moon, they estimated that about 600 million people were watching. The world’s population has nearly doubled since then, but the number of people in the industrialized world who have televisions has not grown all that much (most of the population growth has been in Third World nations where most people do not have televisions). Do they actually think a concert will attract more viewers than the first Moon landing?

How do they know 2 billion people watched it?

Easy. They use the same people to do the TV polling for viewers as they use for their global warming junk science. Their counting and their science are just as reliable.

Live Earth fails to pack large-scale punch

http://tinyurl.com/2mx8dd

As a concert, Live Earth was not the repeat of Live Aid/Live 8 it clearly wanted to be. Unlike the events organised by the charismatic Sir Bob Geldof – upon which this one modelled itself closely, right down to its choice of name – the acts who answered the call from Al Gore’s people to play at Wembley Stadium were a bit short on superstar clout.

I watched about 3 minutes of it. Three minutes is about all I can take of condescension, especially from those who don`t work for a living.
