Court of Appeals takes up Corrie lawsuit

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will hear arguments Monday whether there is merit to a lawsuit by the family of Rachel Corrie, the 23-year-old activist from Olympia killed by a bulldozer in the Gaza Strip in 2003.

The defendant in the case is Caterpillar, which made the D9 bulldozer involved in her death.

The case, Corrie et al. v. Caterpillar, was filed in Seattle in 2005, but a district court dismissed it. After this hearing, the appeals court will rule whether the suit should be dismissed or sent back to the lower court.

Cindy and Craig Corrie, the woman's parents, allege Caterpillar violated human rights and committed war crimes by knowingly selling its equipment to the Israeli army, which used the bulldozers to raze Palestinian homes and endanger people. Rachel Corrie was run over by a bulldozer driven by an Israeli soldier as she tried to block a home from demolition.

Thanks for the propaganda link. /s There is no “actual footage” of Corrie’s death, so best of luck “trying to find” something that doesn’t exist. BTW, I hope you’re also aware that the series of photos crafted by ISM and flogged to Reuters, purporting to show that the ‘dozer driver was aware of her presence, was later shown to be a carefully arranged fraud, as the photos which were alleged to have been taken moments before she died were in fact taken hours earlier that day. Reuters did finally acknowledge the fraud and remove the photos, but not until the “news” had flashed all over the world. The left has had more than a century of practice at ‘managing’ the media — don’t be fooled by their lies.

Sorry for my apparent mistake. I can see it so crystal clear in my mind that I am damn near certain I saw the tape years ago. If anything it proved how at fault Corrie was.
But alas, I cannot find it again and must therefore concede that it doesn’t exist.
My belief if that she was aiding terrorists and committed suicide so I definitely don’t buy into the propaganda.

People still insist they saw the Kennedy motorcade and assassination live on TV, even though it was not broadcast and the Zapruder tape (the only actual footage) was not shown until many years later.

Your comments go directly to my point about the left managing the media mind of the public; how many thousands (millions?) of other people believe they’ve seen footage of Corrie being ‘murdered,’ and thus carry with them a view of Israeli actions that is simply untrue? Now add Mohammed al-Dura, fake stories and photos sprinkled throughout Reuters and AP, ‘Green Helmet Guy,’ the Qana ambulence hoax, and so on ad nauseum, and the power of the lie is never more evident.

Can a judge order the plantiff to pay the court costs of the defense in frivolous lawsuits such as this?

Generally no, unless it can be shown without a doubt that the suit was intended solely to harass the defendant. As long as there is anything resembling a real claim (no matter how ridiculous), each side will pay their own fees.

The John Deere Company manufactured a product called a D-8 I believe.
Rachel Corrie was a 23 year old(at the time of her demise)Washington State supporter of terrorist causes, and an active member of the International Solidarity Movement, (the ISM) which supported and facilitated terrorist activities in Gaza, including digging tunnels for the illegal importation of explosives and weapons and ammo.
Mz.Corrie tried to intimidate an Israeli military Bulldozer(John Deere) from destroying the tunnels and a fortified residence from which fire was directed at Israeli positions.
She was told to move. She did not. The bulldozer gave her instant sainthood as Saint Rachel of the Pancakes.
Her parents, as effed up as she was are suing, or tying to, and now it is before the nutsos in California. Not to worry. You can cut your lawn.

Careful now, I babysit my grand kids and am forced to watch a kids John Deere educational DVD. I’ve seen it so many times the songs are bouncing around in my brain right now.

I just went over the original stuff on Corrie's offing and Ascension to sainthood(maple syrup not included) and I find I can not tell the difference between a John Deere and a Cat.
I assume that her parents are suing both, or the one who is not excluded from culpability. Makes no diff. the suit is bullshit regardless and without merit.

John Deere & Caterpillar are kind of like GM & Ford,
two completely different companies.
