Hillary Clinton has been awarded an honorary doctorate in medicine by Gothenburg University . In a statement, the Sahlgrenska Academy pointed to her work for vulnerable children and improved healthcare.The US presidential candidate studied law at Yale and in 1972 presented her thesis on the rights of children. She has also studied children's health, with a focus on brain development.
"Hillary Clinton's involvement in issues around medical research and health problems are well known," said Professor Olle Larkö, dean at the Sahlgrenska Academy.
"She is also a strong advocate for increased investment in medical research."
In 2000, Clinton was elected New York senator. She has now set her sights on becoming the first female US president and is battling to represent the Democrat party in 2008.
Hillary Clinton's work in "raising awareness of the increased health problems linked to obesity, poor quality food and physical inactivity" was also a key factor in the academy's decision to honour her.
The doctorate will be awarded at a ceremony in America in the autumn.

It was founded as Göteborgs högskola (Gothenburg University College) in 1891 and has later absorbed several other, previously independent, institutions of higher education in the city. It became a full university with the merger of the University College with the Gothenburg School of Medicine (Medicinhögskolan i Göteborg) in 1954. Another part of the university is the originally separate Gothenburg School of Economics and Commercial Law, changed to School of Business Economics and Law in 2005. The Sahlgrenska University Hospital is associated with the university as a teaching hospital. Gothenburg University is a pronounced city university, and during the 1990’s the School of Economics and the Academy of Music, Drama and Opera have been given new facilities in the town centre. In 2006 a new campus for the Faculty of Education was opened in central Gothenburg.

It was at Georgetown University Hospital, were Hillary had all the unpleasant looking really sick kids cleared out (hairless cancer patients). She replaced them with healthy kids of her staffers. The rejected real sick kids were left crying and feeling like repulsive non-humans.
