YRs to spend quality time with Hunter
Presidential hopeful has two sons the same age as many of the young republicans
Hollywood, Florida Young Republicans (YRs) from around the nation will be welcoming 2008 Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter to South Florida this weekend (July 5-8). Hunter will be the featured speaker at the National Conventions luncheon in the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Diplomat Resort Friday (July 6).
The Southern Californian Congressman and Vietnam veteran was chairman and is currently the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee overseeing a $532B defense budget. Border security has long been one of his top priorities. Congressman Hunter was instrumental in the passage of the Secure Fence Act, extending the San Diego border fence 854-miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Hunter said he was pleased and privileged to have the opportunity to spend time with the young people who are, the future of the Republican party. Hunter said he was anxious to hear the views of the young Republicans concerning the vital issues facing this country. I have two young sons myself and both are instrumental in helping me in my quest for the Presidency.
Hunters youngest son, Sam, just graduated from college. He is married with a small child. Hunters oldest son, Capt. Duncan D. Hunter USMC, is serving his third tour in the Middle East. He too is married and has three young children. I mention my sons and their spouses because I am very proud of them. They are the same age as many of the attendees of the YRNC. I can relate to these young Republicans, added Hunter.
The events will be held at the Westin Diplomat Resort, 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, Florida. Mary Matalin, noted television personality, will also be attending and speaking at another time. She has been active in politics since college, starting at the grassroots level in local and statewide campaigns in her native state of Illinois. The Reagan Revolution brought her to Washington, DC where she served the Republican National Committee. The YR luncheon with Matalin will be Saturday (July 7).
The mission of the Young Republicans is to educate professionals in the 18-40 age range on current issues, campaigning, and leadership. A large crowd is expected to attend.

Bump & Ping
A ping of definite interest!
For those who live in Florida, Hunter’s gonna be there for an event that lasts from today until the 8th!
I want him to come to CT or NY!
*pouts*
Cool, the youngsters can get a look at a real conservative.
Cool. I have a friends who will be there.
I could go to this, but it’s almost a hundred-mile drive.
I can’t get anywhere , for much less than a 100 miles. Go , if you can.
Cindy, you can be in a whole other country in a matter of minutos!
True:’) I do some consultant work and I got an e-mail Monday asking how far I would be willing to travel. I replied “oh, maybe as far as San Antonio or Houston”. My supervisor sent me back an “oh, I would never ask you to drive that far unless it was an ER” LOL. That’s a piece of cake in Texas.

Duncan Hunter is THE best candidate to fight the war on terror.
Thanks for posting this. Hunter should connect well with the youngens.
Ditto! I can hardly wait for him to come to NY!
I’ll definitely be making time in whatever schedule I may have to go see him.
wish I could be there, but I have a prior engagement in Baghdad. I will pass it on to my friends in Tallahassee.
I met Ronald Reagan at a YR campaign event. Great memories.
I attended the YR Convention and saw Congressman Hunter, Governor Romeny, and Senator Thompson speak. The one who generated the most excitement among YRs was Thompson. I was a struggle for him to leave as he was mobbed by YRs wanting to get thier pictures taken with him or autographs.
Florida might be the defining primary this year. I hope that Mr. Hunter does some good campaigning there.
