Drudge Report Downloading Code My Anti-Virus is blocking without option to accept
Drudge ^ | July 4, 2007 | BJungNan

Posted on 07/04/2007 10:38:46 PM PDT by BJungNan

Whe I come across a website that is downloading code, my anti-virus acts in one of two ways:

(1) It grays out the screen and tells me a site is trying to download code, then gives me the option to accept or not.

(2) It grays out the screen and tells me a site is trying to download code...but gives no option. Just blocks it and that is it.

Three times now I have gone to Drudge and I was not given the option to proceed. My anti-virus viewed the content as so hostile it was number 2 only.

What's up with that Matt?

I got infected last week. AVG did not detect it. Think it came imbedded in an image file in an email.

Downloaded Prevxx and it found it, ended up totally scrubbing the machine and reinstalling everything.

Can’t remember the virus name but it was nasty. NETSTAT showed I was hijacked by about 20-30 other computers.

Bassturds!!

Avg doesn’t detect spyware, only viruses. Download the AVG spyware scanner, or something like spysweeper. They both run in the background like AVG.

The full featured AVG spyware program is NOT free, but does run with some features disabled in the free version. It switches to that mode after the 30 day full featured trial is over.

Which ever you may choose, it helps catch those few spyware programs that find there way on your system, which certainly can act like a virus.

Personaly I use spysweeper which seems to run smoother than the AVG program, although when i tried the avg program it was just released so they may have fixed the glitches by now. AVG antivirus is the best there is (and free) IMHO.

You an Aussie?

No, although I do know that term originated in Britain.

It became more popular in The States soon after Ann Coulter did NOT call John Edwards a faggot.

And for the record, I have NEVER referred to John Edwards as a poofter. I may have said I would not refer to him as a poofter because if I did I may have to go to rehab, but no more than that...

(my thanks to Ann Coulter)

I stopped visiting the Drudge site years ago after I kept getting these pop-up loops that I couldn’t get rid of without a lot of hassle. ‘X’ out of one pop-up and another one took its place; ‘X’ out of that one and the first one reappeared, on infinitum.

Any anti virus program that was turning my screen grey would be GONE. I wouldn't stand for it doing that. Dump it. You do not need to use two anti-virus programs, and in fact, it is probably best not to.

AVI will do the job just fine. Get rid of the other one.

As for Drudge, it is my home page and I never have any problems. I believe your problem is your browser .. it is allowing popups and java script.

My advice is that you should use Firefox. It is free and you get it here: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/pgdlong/index.html

Also, make sure you also get these free addons for Firefox: 1) NoScript 2) AdBlock Plus and 3) Adblock Plus Filter Uploader

With Firefox and these add ons you will have no more problems with popups or java scripts on Drudge or anywhere else.
