WASHINGTON (Thomson Financial) - The Chinese government late tonight US time will announce its acceptance of a framework agreement under which China's Chery Motor Co will produce cars for Chrysler to be sold in the US, a Chrysler spokesman said.

Spokesman Mike Aberlich said China's agreement of the framework deal would be announced the morning of July 4 in China. 'There will be an announcement tonight,' he said.

Crystler: Importing exciting new ways to die.

From the same makers of the exploding cell phone:

“...broke a rib and drove it into the man’s heart and he collapsed in a pool of blood...”

And also these fine China exports:

Toothpaste
Cold medicine
Baby bibs
Toys
Mini-blinds
Lunch boxes
Jewelry
Crayons
Pet food
River water
Ocean water
Fish
Air
Airborne Dust

All these (and more) coming from the Prison Realm of China have frequently turned up in other countries and have been found to contain unsafe levels of various toxins.

Children’s toothpaste:

Poisoned pet food (and human food!):

Considering China’s record when it comes to human safety concerns I expect to see parts of this vehicle line scattered all along the freeways here.

At this point I’ve got a list of things I wouldn’t buy from China and cars are certainly on the list. But there are some kinds of simple made-in-china things I’ve been buying for years which are fairly harmless and leave me with lots of money for other things: simple tools, shoes particularly tennis shoes, the North Star rifle scopes, and a few things like that which are difficult to screw up.

"I expect to see parts of this vehicle line scattered all along the freeways here.".

And the stuff they get from China won't be too much better.

I will not be surprised if in 10 years we see exploding cars on the highways.

This sort of globalization-at-any-cost is turning the USA into a 3rd world country.

Do you realize how many more cents we would have to pay to get these products made in the US?

Are you willing to pay an extra $0.25 just so that your baby's bib doesn't kill him?

Sorry, were not all made of money like you.

So my kids may have to bury their poisoned dead dog with a lead paint covered toy shovel, but just think of the money I will save.

A Clysler. :)

Seriously though, good luck with that Chrysler. I think you've just found a way to deter anyone who buys American from setting foot inside your showrooms. You may yet beat Ford to the corporate graveyard.

If they were smart, this announcement came without any real plans to implement until it gets a reaction.

Sorry to hear this. I’m a Chrysler fan but if the Chinese are going to produce them I won’t be buying another one.
