n the wake of President Bushs clemency of former vice presidential chief of staff Lewis Scooter Libby, Rep. Tom Tancredo urged the president to take it a step further and fully pardon two former Border Patrol agents whose case has galvanized conservatives.
The agents Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos were convicted of shooting a suspected drug smuggler and trying to cover up the incident. They are serving 12 and 11 year sentences, respectively.
Supporters say the agents were convicted wrongly for protecting the U.S. border against criminal intruders. Their case has become a cause celeb for conservative talk show hosts and groups that advocate stronger immigration controls.
Tancredo, a GOP presidential hopeful, said that the sentences in the case were grossly unfair and a result of an overzealous prosecutor. He also said in a statement that the men were at risk of violent attacks at their current prison cell locations and that their families are suffering. Ramos was beaten by other inmates earlier this year.
I hope the president will consider providing the same relief to these men and their families that he did yesterday to Mr. Libby, Tancredo said.
U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton of San Antonio has stood by his prosecution of the agents.
Besides being obviously angry, you are delusional.
If we did what DCPatriot wants the individual states to do there is no need for us to send tax money to Washington, DC... but, it appears he thinks we should pay into the Federal coffers and sit back quietly while The Department of Homeland Security does nothing, looks the other way or prosecutes men who are doing their jobs to protect our border and foot the bill out of the State coffers and still pay the feds for their do-nothingness.
President Bush will never pardon those border agents.
Thanks for posting; thanks for the ping.
Ramos and Compean pardon BUMP!
Traitor Sutton is the one who should be doing ten years in solitary.
My point was that in today's climate I doubt very much resistance would be heard if Arizona decided to protect their own international borders.
Hire ex military policemen, make them read How to Win Friends and Influence People...twice...and get to work.
You’re a fool living a thousand miles from the border.
“Youre a fool living a thousand miles from the border.”
You are insulting fools everywhere with that remark. Even fools know that America’s southern border is an open door thanks to our government. DCPatriot is aptly named. He is a patriot for D.C. which mostly screws America.
That could only mean one of two things, either he was there (no) or that his natural inclination is to take the word of a Mexican drug smuggler over that of two American LEOs BEFORE any facts are known (yep, that's him).
He has too much time on his hands. Never trust a person who has too much time on their hands.
IMO they don't need a pardon since they did nothing wrong. They need a new trial.
1.) Sutton said that he was running away from the van & admitted he was busted again after that on the Glen Beck show.
2.) Pres. Bush HAS intervened in this case & a few other cases like it on behalf of his Buddy's in Mexico. There is a clear pattern in many cases such a R&C, Hernandez, and Sipe to name a few. The pattern goes something like this, LE Agent stops illegal & uses force, Mexico phones White House & WH Sics Sutton & Chertoff on LE Agents & with holds evidence from jury. Sends message to Mexico & LE Agents that status quo is in tact.
Delusional, nope. I always use your own statements and the facts about you that you yourself provided in your vanished profile.
Yeah, you're right. A lot of us with good memories do indeed check out the profile page.

The exact phrase was 'hopeless liberal'.
This 'patriot' also wrote that in his business he uses a cleaning service that he knows hires illegals. He then washed his hands like Pilate by saying that he doesn't hire the illegals directly.
He knowingly supports illegals and scoffs at the cost paid by Americans in health care, crime and education. He saves a few bucks, that's all that counts.
I am a staunch conservative but hopelessly liberal on the immigration matter. No apologies offered... Let them stay...get them on the tax rolls.
"hopelessly"...an adverb, FWIW.
If I am wrong I'll apologize right here for saying so.
You know...those posters with blinders that refuse to read opinions that contradict their delusions. Or can't stomach responses to their own ignorance.
And to best of my recollection, you've never done that to me. ;^)
A couple of weeks ago, I found a flyer...grammatically correct...in my mailbox, advertising cleaning services.
My girlfriend asked if we could call the lady to assist her in doing a deep cleaning on the house...since it's too much for one person to clean to our satisfaction.
She came to give us a price...a Hispanic lady in her 30's. She wanted $80.00.
My girlfriend hired her and together, they did a fabulous job...over 5,500 sq. ft. finished.
I needed to have one of my new listings professionally cleaned and after playing phone tag with my primary cleaning service this past weekend, decided to ask Christina if she wanted the job that had to be completed by yesterday.
She said she would be glad to do it...I asked her how much...she said eighty dollars ($80).
I told her I would give her what I normally pay...two hundred fifty dollars to clean every square inch of a 3 level home...about 1800 sq. ft.
Her eyes welled up with tears.
What a country, huh?
Now...just what law did I break?
If you yourself never used that phrase on your home page, I extend my apologies for saying that I thought you did. Perhaps I confused the comments of others. However, it appears the "hopeless liberal" comment, at least vis-a-vis immigration, stands.
Btw, I am of the female warrior gender. :-)
