In the wake of this weekends spate of actual and attempted car-bombings in the U.K., I watched the uncut version of The Path to 9/11 ABCs dramatic portrayal of the events that contributed to, and culminated in, the deadliest attacks on U.S. soil to date. As the brilliantly crafted segments (written by Cyrus Nowrasteh) rolled by showing addled thinking, failed policies and missed opportunities to prevent those attacks, I kept thinking: What mistakes are being made today that will form the backdrop to the next, possibly far more horrific, terrorist strikes in this country?
When they occur, the official investigation will doubtless chronicle similar sorts of problems. Warnings that were ignored or not acted upon in time. Failures by government agencies to learn from past mistakes and take corrective action. Decisions by the perpetrators, by those trying to defeat them and by innocent victims that produced tragedies, potentially on an unimaginable scale.
A member of the police forensic team takes away a gas canister from behind of the back of the burnt out Cherokee Jeep is seen at Glasgow International Airport Glasgow Scotland Sunday July 1, 2007 . The vehicle rammed and burst into flames in a terror attack Saturday that police linked to a foiled car bomb plot in central London the previous day.
My guess is that the single most important contributor to our vulnerability to future attacks, however, will prove to be the result of a systematic failure by our government to understand the nature of our enemies, and to deal with these foes appropriately. A case in point was President Bushs visit to the Saudi-underwritten Washington Islamic Center last week.

It’s my understanding that if you didn’t record this show, you won’t be able to watch it again. On Hannity’s America they mentioned that ABC will not be releasing it for DVD or airing it again, possibly ever.
The 9-11 hijackers for the most part were visa overstayers. We're to lenient in handing out visas and even after 6 years, we still don't have a handle on when people come and go legally or illegally from the USA.
And yes, out political correctness will also contribute greatly to our problems as well.
Too bad for them, I TIVO’ed it, and copied it to DVD, for my own personal use of course. Perhaps I’ll send my copy to a Chinese distributor.
I recorded it on my DVR, and my idiot roommate at the time managed to delete it.
IMHO, within the next five years Political Correctness is gonna get thousands of us killed. Many thousands.
When the Islamofascists reach critical mass and they come for you and you’re laying on the ground with your head sawed off or you’re burned to a crisp and hanging from a bridge, I’ll remind you that your condition was wrought by peaceful folks just practicing their religion.
And I’ll remind your dead carcass that, in your Politically Correct haze, you didn’t see the forest for the trees.
I’m armed, not politically correct.
“Im armed, not politically correct.”
I also :)
When the time comes, my epitaph will be, “He was never, ever politically correct.”
If we are to prevent further terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans and their government must stop blurring the distinction between Muslims who are determined to bring about one way or another our demise as freedom-enjoying people, and Muslims who are fully committed to preserving the liberties secured for us 231 years ago on Wednesday and subsequently preserved at great cost in lives and treasure. Otherwise, we will find our own footprints on the path to the next act of Islamofascist terror.
