A supposed letter to the editor making the rounds of the Internet (credited to various authors at different Web sites, including "Albert V. Burns," "Rosemary LaBonte" and "Ann Marie Coviello") compares today's immigrants (bad) with the immigrants of yesteryear (good)
Snip
It explains why a poster at FreeRepublic.com inserted the face of Rudy Giuliani in what looks to be an old movie still of a sombrero-wearing bandito and added the caption "Borders? Borders? We don' need no steenking borders." It explains why Giuliani has backed off the pro-immigrant stance he had when mayor of New York City.
And it explains why even some of the most conservative Hispanics realize that all the posturing about illegal immigrants is really an attack aimed at everybody whose name ends in "ez."

As in, what part of "It's the ASSIMILATION, stupid!" doesn't he understand?
As in, what part of higher crime rates, uninsured motorists, bankrupting of hospitals, TB, and Chagas' disease, and drunk drivers doesn't he understand?
As in, what part of identity theft doesn't he understand?

Didn't need to read any more than that to realize that the author is full of sh*t. Come down to Texas sometimes and see that brown skin does not mean you need welfare...which is all the Democrats offer.

Well, gosh, what a shock. Yet another one pulling out the race card in a debate about illegal aliens that includes every ‘race’ on the planet. Deport illegal Canadians (there’s hundreds of thousands still), deport illegal Poles (estimated at nearly a hundred thousand now), deport illegal Brazilians (estimated at a little over 250,000.)
Come on, pull the race card on them too. What? Oh, right, yet another racist publication that thinks that only Mexicans are able to be defended. Drive by media shows it’s true colors, yet again.

an attack aimed at everybody whose name ends in "ez." Let it be known that the ire I have for one Mel Martinez, or my distaste for the politics of the Sanchez sisters, has nothing to do with xenophopia. Several of my family and friends have names of Alvarez, Gutierrez, Lopez, Rodriguez, etc. These race-baiting "journalists" are shameless.

If "xenophobia" means that I'm afraid an overwhelming influx of escapees from tyrannical countries bringing with them expectations of conquest...
You bet I'm xenophobic, and with good reason.

We’re going to get a steady stream of this crap in the near future. I’m not opposed to Mexican immigrants, I just want secure borders and an orderly immigration process - the same things just about every other nation in the World has. But if we insist on this, we’re nasty and xenophobic.
