Illegal alien threatens 'campaign of resistance' Fugitive in 'sanctuary' demands suspension of immigration laws Posted: July 2, 2007 5:40 p.m. Eastern

An illegal alien who has taken refuge in a Chicago-area church after defying federal law by refusing to follow a deportation order now is calling for the suspension of the nation's immigration laws and a "campaign of resistance."

Following the failure of U.S. Senate plan that would have created a legal status for the 12-20 million illegal aliens already in the U.S., Mexican activist Elvira Arellano demanded an immediate moratorium be imposed on all raids and deportations.

In a written statement from the La Raza newspaper, publicized by a the Chicago Fox News affilate's blog, she said "if the Democrats and the Republicans cannot summon the courage to fix the broken law we will not sit quietly and see our families and our children cut to pieces on the broken pieces of that broken law."

Arellano has been confined – voluntarily – to a church in the Chicago area since Aug. 15 to avoid being deported. She said such a moratorium would allow time for the U.S. to "revive and pass a comprehensive immigration reform."

Without such action, her statement continued, immigrant organizations would launch a campaign "aimed at bringing this government and this economy to a halt."

Several other groups also joined in her threat, confirming the plans for "economic sanctions" against companies that support "anti-immigration legislators."

"We have more than enough laws to get rid of illegal aliens," wrote Ken Lowder in an e-mail. "Security on the border is real easy. Establish a 100 yard zone along the border. … Put in an all weather road for troop movement. Set up a support bunker every few miles. Put an ARMED Marine, soldier, or national guardsman every 10 yards and shooting everyone who comes across for being an INVADER that they are. Any general that says we can't do this is to be immediately relieved and fired."

As WND has reported, the Senate's "comprehensive" immigration plan failed by a significant margin after senators' offices were flooded with tens of thousands of calls from citizens expressing opposition.

They have demanded that the U.S. first enforce the existing laws banning entry into the U.S. by the midnight express.

However, WND also has reported Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff says the federal government doesn't even have the ability to enforce its own laws.

Michael Chertoff

"We're going to continue to enforce the law. It's going to be tough," Chertoff said. "We don't really have the ability to enforce the law with respect to illegal work in this country in a way that's truly effective."

Chertoff said Senate opponents deprived his department of the ability to ensure stricter enforcement by requiring companies to enter a system to check their employees' work status.

"That would be the single greatest additional weapon we could use if we're serious about tackling this problem," he said. "I wish we had some of the tools that were left on the floor of the Senate when they abandoned the bill last week, but we will do what we have to do with the resources we have at our disposal."

However, the issue is quite simple, according to Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.: The government needs to do what it is supposed to in order to win back the trust of the American people.

"A lot of Americans have lost faith in their government," Kyl said. "They don't think we can control our borders, win a war, issue passports, solve other problems. So they ask this question … why should we give more power to the government to do things it hasn't been willing to do in the past?"

On a Chicago Fox News blog, the reaction to Arellano's demands were strong:

"I do not feel sorry for this multiple criminal illegal offender who whines and moans and complains about the injustice of her situation. … She has overstayed her welcome; she continues to be a criminal and break our laws. This is not her country," wrote "therman4."

Added "GregCast": "No longer will we tolerate people jumping our borders, wreaking havoc on our social services and destroying our wages for their own selfish benefit. This is OUR country and we are going to take it back!"

Said "Mommacat": "After re-reading this I want to point out something here … This statement: 'Otherwise, pro-immigrant organizations will begin a campaign 'aimed at bringing this government and this economy to a halt.'' Seems kind of threatening to this nation and the citizens who live here. I believe this could be viewed as a possible terrorist threat! I mean, what else could be assumed by someone wanting to bring the government and the economy to a halt! Wasn't that part of the goal of the 9/11 attack?"

Arellano has been ordered deported but instead of reporting for the process, she took refuge in Aldaberto United Methodist Church.

She had been apprehended as part of an investigation named Operation Chicagoland Skies, an attempt to track down terrorists, which actually captured more illegal aliens.

Patricia Mendoza of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund called it a public relations stunt.

"These are all people who were basically trying to make a life for themselves and their families," she said.

Arellano was caught because she used a fake Social Security number and was working at a Chicago airport, where security has been heightened.

But she refused to cooperate and took up residence in the church, from which she now runs the activist lobby United Latino Family.

She has said she'll stay there indefinitely.

"If Homeland Security chooses to send agents to a holy place, I could know that God wants me to serve as an example of the hatred and hypocrisy of the current administration," Arellano was quoted as saying.

Federal authorities say she isn't "less deportable" legally because she is in a church, but it would look bad politically "to be hauling people out of churches."

Threats to America made by Elvira Arellano on July, 1st 2007

Hours after the Senate voted against advancing the immigration reform project, the Mexican activist Elvira Arellano announced a campaign of resistance against the U.S. government.

In a written statement, the leader of the movement Familia Unida (United Family) said that “if the Democrats and the Republicans cannot summon the courage to fix the broken law we will not sit quietly and see our families and our children cut to pieces on the broken pieces of that broken law.”

She demanded an immediate moratorium on all raids and deportations.

Arellano, who has remained in a Northwest Side church since August 15 to avoid an order of deportation, said this would be the deadline the government will have to “revive and pass a comprehensive immigration reform.”

Otherwise, pro-immigrant organizers will begin a campaign “aimed at bringing this government and this economy to a halt.”

Representatives from the Centro Sin Fronteras and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights also announced this morning they were prepared to take “economic actions” against corporations that support anti immigrant legislators and programming.

Also, a massive concentration of families and children is scheduled for July 17 in Washington D.C. to “confront the leaders of both parties and the President.”

Action for Minutemen:
Please ask by way of Fax and/or Letters mailed to Special Agent-in-Charge you would like Elvira Arellano and Rev. Coleman and Emma Lozano investigated because of these threats of “Campaign of Resistance” aimed at bringing this government and this economy to a halt. Tell them you consider these very dangerous threats coming from a fugitive who has evaded ICE for close to a year.
Demand her removal!

Please ask for a response to your letter and/or Fax
Below is the description of the Office of Investigation. If you call, ask them how you can follow up on the progress of your complaint. Always be polite but demand a way to chart progress and their final outcome of this investigation. Also find out if you want to take this complaint higher, who do you contact? It would be advantageous to send along with your correspondence a copy of Elvira’s threats and statements.

Ask if there are any forms that you have to fill out and ask that they be sent to you.

Let us know about response/forms/requirements you become aware of.

I have another thought about all of this. It’s amazing how the Mexicans are willing to fight for a right to stay in the United States, but they aren’t willing to fight to make their own country not corrupt and a better place.

Mexico should be a thriving country because it has lots of natural resources. Yet, it is still basically a third world country.

Mexicans should be fighting to make their own country better, and the US should be helping them fight.

Why fight when your next door neighbor will pat you on the back, give you tons of freebies and support you and your kids for life?

I think offering incentives in Mexico would also help. Like maybe create some jobs (US sponsored farms, buildings, etc) in Mexico and hire illegals here and then pay/provide free transportation to the job site in Mexico.

The illegal aliens, not all from Mexico, violate our laws with assistance from Mexican and you expect us to reward them with jobs. Appeasing criminals will only beget more criminals. We'll provide the free transportation when we deport them.

You have it 180 degrees backwards. We should be fighting to make our country better by deporting illegal aliens and Mexico should help the U.S. by taking back the illegal aliens who entered from Mexico.

And just how does El Presidente Jorge Boosh feel about this bill. Is he pushing it as hard as I daresay he would probably like to.

Viva to all of the gringos who got the SHamnesty/SCamnesty bill torpedoed.

I am going to Call KBH and JC here in Texas and ask them to propose legislation to fill up my scotch supply and stop wasting our money on unnecessary illegal aid and abetting groups.

We Freepers played a major part in scuttling the SHanmesty/SCamnesty bill. Don’t sit back and think we won. We won the skirmish in a war and La Raza is on the illegals side. I think the time to call, write, fax and email is still here.

I don’t expect us to pay. I’m trying to think of ways to create incentives that would be easier and cheaper (in the long run) to get them out of our country.

First of all, we have to cut off all services and dry up that source of revenue for them. That saves our country money, and does not create incentives for them to stay in our country.

Aldaberto United Methodist Church. Methodist FReepers, you have a fifth column in your midst.

Yes we do. The leadership has drifted to the left in recent years especially in the east.

We both know nothing like what I said or what you said is going to happen.

Illegals just want to come here and enjoy their free ride.

Someone who isn’t allowed in this country is calling for protests against that very country from within it.

Would Mexico allow such a thing?

Even if the 12 to 20,000,00 were offered a path to citizenship they would not take it. They do NOT want citizenship.

They want FREE everything, welfare, education, medical and send all of our resources and money to Mehico.

We might consider a combination of what Mexico’s and South Africa’s policies are. Mexico, Illegals get NOTHING, ZILCH, NADA. And South Africa..... South African currency is useless except in South Africa.

When American Money is, be it wired, mailed or carried to another country, it should be useless.

“So what do we do?”

We fine every employer of illegals $100,000 per illegal on his property. For the second offense, $500,000 each. The third offense would be mandatory jail time of 1-5 years, depending on how many illegals were found. This would dry up the wages of the illegals and there would be no reason for them to stay in this country. They would deport themselves. Problem solved.

Got these (edited for focus) replies;

I look forward to voting for a bill ..... and will provide a program that would have helped identify illegal immigrants in this country with their continued presence conditioned on learning English, paying taxes and being employed.

Norm Coleman
United States Senate

Finally, there should be some form of earned citizenship

Amy Klobuchar
United States Senator

We should create a process of “earned citizenship” for these individuals,

Tim Walz
Member of Congress

Isn’t that what a ‘green card’ is for?

No to earned citizenship, compare that to someone
who has their driver licence revoked and keeps on driving,
should they get their licence reinstated? No.

No to any ‘earned citizenship’ too.

Chertoff in a September 2006 memo...

"working groups led by DHS [Department of Homeland Security] should now be driven by a single agenda: the SPP.”

Chertoff from this article...

"We're going to continue to enforce the law. It's going to be tough," Chertoff said. "We don't really have the ability to enforce the law with respect to illegal work in this country in a way that's truly effective."

No to any ‘earned citizenship’ . Build the fence, enforce deportation. Green Cards are already available.

An effective border fence runs 180* against the real agenda. That's why CHertoff has three senile drunks builing the fence, with penalties for building more than a yard a week.

Ike managed.

Ike's effective boarder patrol

Assisted by municipal, county, state, and federal authorities, as well as the military, the border patrol began "Operation Wetback" in California and Arizona with some 750 agents. More than 50,000 aliens were caught in the two states in less than a month, and an estimated 500,000 left the country fearing arrest. The operation then moved through Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Texas achieving similar results. It's estimated over 2,000,000 illegals were removed or voluntarily left during 1953-54, and illegal immigration remained under control for more than a decade.

What the article doesn't say is that were NOT dropped at their border but at least 500 miles from it by military ship.
