Likely presidential candidate Fred Thompson (R) released this statement: "I am very happy for Scooter Libby. I know that this is a great relief to him, his wife and children. While for a long time I have urged a pardon for Scooter, I respect the President's decision. This will allow a good American, who has done a lot for his country, to resume his life."

“What Bush did was smart though. Libby can appeal his conviction without spending time in prison, and if he’s exonerated, the MSM/Dims can’t whine about Bush “supporting corruption blah blah” because the system will work. If the conviction holds, Bush will just pardon him before he leaves office.”

ERRR, I'm sure they're just pissed this happened on a holiday week when our attention is somewhat diverted because they LIVE to scream about stuff like this - even though they probably would have done the same thing themselves. Hillary would have a hard time screaming about pardons anyway.
“Cant wait for 2008, although Im a Hunter fan, Mr. Thompson is looking good.”
Wonder how a Thompson/Hunter ticket would play.
