The Republican Assembly is a grassroots conservative Republican organization. I’m a member in Texas, and we call ourselves ‘the Republican wing of the Republican party’.
They are ‘RINO hunters’.

There are reasons why Rudy would say that he’d govern like Arnold and get terrible results in this straw poll. LOL.

Ron Paul? Is that the guy who donated to Hitlery? Or Peter Paul’s brother? Or a libertarian wannabe but never will be?

No, he is the only guy up there protecting the Constitution.
Expect more of this as he gets better known.
We are seeing about an 80% conversion rate from people saying "Who is ron paul?"
to becoming supporters, many rabidly so.

Ron Paul will be the Republican candidate for President of the United States of America. And he will win by a landslide.
Even you will vote for him.

I doubt Ron Paul will win the Texas GOP Straw Poll vote on Sept. 1.

"I doubt Ron Paul will win the Texas GOP Straw Poll vote on Sept. 1."

There are a lot of RINOs in Texas (Kay Granger), but Ron will get the nomination and he will win by a landslide.

RINO hunters? How do you account for the good showing for Ron Paul?

Ron Paul is not a RINO moderate like most RINOs, he’s a libertarian-style conservative, a different breed.

I was at the Texas conservative conference in Feb and Ron Paul spoke there and had some ‘handlers’ and supporters there.
I’d say that he opposition to Iraq war is a double-edged sword. For some it is the attraction, but for others like me it is a perfect example of why he is the wrong candidate. We cannot have an isolationist President while we are trying to fight against terrorists around the world.

I’m thrilled to see Duncan in second place in a poll. I was worried he’d always be stuck around the 1-2% ratings in polls. (Sorry to the Fredheads for my next statement) I hope he can bump Fred out of first.

Makes you wonder who out there is supporting McCrazy. I haven’t seen a single one of his supporters.

We cannot have an isolationist President while we are trying to fight against terrorists around the world.

Non-interventionalism is *not* Isolationism.
Here is Ron Pauls position in his own words.

Both Jefferson and Washington warned us about entangling ourselves in the affairs of other nations. Today, we have troops in 130 countries. We are spread so thin that we have too few troops defending America. And now, there are new calls for a draft of our young men and women.

We can continue to fund and fight no-win police actions around the globe, or we can refocus on securing America and bring the troops home. No war should ever be fought without a declaration of war voted upon by the Congress, as required by the Constitution.

Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.

Too often we give foreign aid and intervene on behalf of governments that are despised. Then, we become despised. Too often we have supported those who turn on us, like the Kosovars who aid Islamic terrorists, or the Afghan jihads themselves, and their friend Osama bin Laden. We armed and trained them, and now we’re paying the price.

At the same time, we must not isolate ourselves. The generosity of the American people has been felt around the globe. Many have thanked God for it, in many languages. Let us have a strong America, conducting open trade, travel, communication, and diplomacy with other nations.

Ron Paul has an annoying habit of giving a warped view of history.

What did Jefferson do when faced with the Barbary Pirates?
He send the Navy and marines and (gasp!) overthrew a foreign potentate who was harboring pirates (the era’s version of terrorists).

“We can continue to fund and fight no-win police actions around the globe”

- nonsense. The US has fought and WON ‘police actions’ in many different countries and can and will ‘win’ in Iraq if we have the resolve to finish the job.

What did Jefferson do when faced with the Barbary Pirates? He send the Navy and marines and (gasp!) overthrew a foreign potentate who was harboring pirates (the era’s version of terrorists).

Ron Paul submitted a declaration of War, he also called for letters of Marquee and Reprisal to be issued.

On Jefferson's inauguration as president in 1801, Yussif Karamanli, the Pasha (or Bashaw) of Tripoli demanded $225,000 from the new administration. (In 1800, Federal revenues totaled a little over $10 million.) Putting his long-held beliefs into practice, Jefferson refused the demand. Consequently, in May of 1801, the Pasha declared war on the United States, not through any formal written documents, but by cutting down the flagstaff in front of the U.S. Consulate. Morocco, Algiers, and Tunis soon followed their ally in Tripoli.

In response, Jefferson sent a group of frigates to defend American interests in the Mediterranean, and informed Congress. Although Congress never voted on a formal declaration of war, they did authorize the President to instruct the commanders of armed vessels of the United States to seize all vessels and goods of the Pasha of Tripoli "and also to cause to be done all such other acts of precaution or hostility as the state of war will justify."

Wearied of the blockade and raids, and now under threat of a continued advance on Tripoli proper and a scheme to restore his deposed older brother Hamet Karamanli as ruler, Yussif Karamanli signed a treaty ending hostilities on June 10, 1805. Although the Senate did not approve the treaty until the following year, this effectively ended the First Barbary War.

We did not overthrow, but we should have.

I believe we are fighting WW4, it is a generantional thing for the muslims.
Americans don't have that much patience.
No matter who wins in 08, I think America will take a break from fighting it until we get hit again.
W never defined the enemy, so the country is confused. He never mentions Salman Pak, he purposely separates Iraq from 9-11.
Why does he do that?
I fear the Republican party is going to lose big in the next election, I don't see anyone who can defeat the hildabeast& Obama ticket, except Ron Paul

Ron Paul says get the Declartion, and fight it to win quickly, none of these crazy ROE that puts our troops at a disadvantage.
How can you argue with that?

Hilarious! Paul has zero chance of being the candidate nor could he hope to win the presidency. He’s a Libertarian and that makes him an instant loser. No, I won’t vote for him as he won’t be the candidate for prez.
